Anyone have their cake covered in crystallized sugar?UPDATED, I posted pic!

If so, can you show me a picture? I saw a picture in a magazine, but now I forget which one and I LOVED it. Thanks!

Really, this cake was covered with large granulated sugar crystals, and had a purple drape of frosting. Let me try to find it...

Okay, this is the one that I thought looked like it was covered in sugar. but close up, it might be something other than sugar. but I'll post it anyways because its pretty

I figured that was the cake you were referring to. It's not the one I was looking for, but it IS pretty, so thank you for posting it anyway

The one I'm looking for looks like they rolled the layers in granulated sugar. It was awesome. I just wish I remember where I saw it

Do you mean edible glitter? Here's an example. I'm sure it can be applied to the whole cake.

I saw something just like that in Brides "Reception 2005" issue, says to display until July 25th 2005. I don't have a picture of the cake, I couldn't get it from their website but you should still be able to pick up the magazine.

I think maybe it was one of Cheryl Kleinman's cakes in the Receptions issue? If that's who it is, her prices aren't too bad if you want to check her out.

I would think they could probably roll the fondant in the sugar, or coat the cake if its buttercream. Very pretty!

thank you so much for this pic. i was at this event and took a pic with my camera phone. but the quality wasn't that great. i was in love with it and show it to everyone. this is the one i voted for! yayayayayay~

SOOOO.....Went to the bakery today, and he is going to make this cake for us. He needs to cover it in fondant and then he will paint the cake with corn syrup and cover it in crystal sugar. Then we will have a champagne colored bow on top that will drape down the sides. He was very excited about making this cake for us It cost us an extra 200 bucks to make the cake because of the fondant, but other than that, he said it will actually be a simple cake to make, but that he can't wait to take pictures and put them in his portfolio.
