Re: any girls doing a beach theme?
I'm not doing a beach theme but I saw an awesome cake in pale blue covered with fondant starfish and it sat on top of sugar that looked like sand. It was incredible.

What an adorable cake! I can tell ya this: The cake version of Sea Urchins is a heck of a lot better looking than the real thing! I suffered through Invertabrate Zoology for two semesters, and they are one of the few things I can recognize!
I love the idea of a beach theme.... I just went to a wedding this weekend and the bride had small votives with sand and sea shells with clear wax in it (the jelly kind..) and they were also our place cards!

Yeah - I was considering using sea urchin shells as part of my theme. FH wanted to know what they look like - so I showed him a pic online. He was like 'why would we want to use those, they are ugly' - haha. I always thought they were cool animals - better looking than sea cucumbers

Re: any girls doing a beach theme?
i replied to this on bhb... hello! i am having my wedding at an aquarium, so i am definitely doing an ocean/beachy theme! the fish will be our most obvious beach themed decor. we will also do centerpieces of glass bowls (or big brandy glasses) filled with white play sand and shells and candles, will cost us $8-15 to make ourselves). we might scatter a few mini shells/starfish on the tables. we found cute favors - champagne glass gel candles with shells in them at a candle factory in bohemia ($3 each plus 50 cents to add personalized ribbon and wrap). I found this beach collection and fell in love with it... http://store.labellaweddings.com/beco.html i am going to order it as soon as i get a dress so i know to order white or ivory. atlantis supplies beautiful cakes with chocolate shells (they look so real) on it. we might make a treasure chest card box with shells on in. there is so much you can do with this theme, have fun with it! ~lacey
