Did anyone else "win" at the huntington hilton expo?
I got a phone call Weds that i "won" at the huntington hilton wedding expo and FH and I have a choice between 3 days and 2 nights free hotel with Ramada/Marriot/ Holiday Inn at a destination we choose out of about 50 (including hawaii!!) good for 18 months OR a $500 gift certificate for "World of America online gift catalogue."
All we have to do is go to the 21st Century Brides showroom tonight at 8:30 and their going to cook for us and then we have to give them our honest opinions of theit housewares line (no obligation to buy of course).
We figured we'll go and check it out - i tried to check out this catalogue to see if its worth taking the gift certifcate but I can't find it online?
Anyone else "win" or has anyone heard of this catalogue and do you think its a better choice then the free hotel?
My thing is we cant afford airfare right now.

walk away. i think everyone how has a uterus won that contest. its not necessarily a scam, but its smacks of something not being right. i got the same call last year after we went to the expo at nassau coliseum.
they called me at work and i never called them back. i say just ignore it.

I "won" at a different show. It's true that just about everybody gets one of those calls.
So I went down for the demonstration, they try to sell you their cookware by cooking for you. They do a taste testing (which is good but certainly not a meal) and then they bring out the package prices.
It was something to do but we didn't buy anything. We got the $500 off certificate, won't know how valid it is til we start to book the HM.

yea, we got that call too from another show at the marriott in uniondale, i didn't think it was too valid so i never bothered to go, but now they call me at least twice a week.

I won that twice already - luckily I never pick up my cell if I don't know the # so I just ignored them. Haha. I think it is like the 'time-share scam' - they lure you to their office and try to sell you kitchenware.
I am the type who would probably buy something just to get them to leave me alone, so I can NEVER go

haha- see i have no problem saying no -but i cant locate this "online gift catalogue" to see if its worth taking that or the free nights (if we actually get it)
Cindy I'm glad i'm not the only one going ! I hardly say no to free food/stuff!

I got a phone call on Wednesday from some company saying that FH and I won a 3 day 2 night trip to the Bahamas, but he has to hand deliver the certificate to our house and show us a cookware demo. NO THANKS

yeah do not even bother. They are trying to sell you stuff and the $500 towards stuff is not worth it. BELIEVE ME!!! STAY AWAY!!
