When writing a TY card to a whole family...
The card was addressed from the Whole family ( 5 people) but 1 of those people could not make it to the wedding.
Do I mention in the card " Sorry Jane could not make it but I hope everyone else had a great time" or just ignore it??

I would ignore it. When that happened with me I just thanked for the generous gift and for sharing in our special day

I think it depends on how close to the family you are.
ETA: If you are close to them you should say you missed whoever couldn't attend. If not, just a general thank you is fine

Re: When writing a TY card to a whole family...
That's a tough one...Since it is from all 5, I would probably thank them all but not write anything about them attending. Instead, you can include all 5 people by thanking them for their love and support, or something like that. The fifth person that couldn't attend still sent his/her love and support even in their absense, so that would be appropriate. Does that make sense? Its like mentioning their "spiritual" presense rather than their physical presence at the wedding. (I'm not spiritual, but couldn't think of a better word). Hope that helps!

I feel so loved!
This can go either way, but I think personally I would:
Dear Mr. and Mrs Sanders Jimmy, Billy and Jane.
We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being there with us to enjoy our special day. Jane, we are sorry you couldn't come dance the night away with us, but we felt a lot of joy and warmth knowing you were with us in spirit! Thank you all ever so much for your most beautiful and generous gift. Those candlesticks will look fantastic on our mantle and will light the holidays for years to come.
Love, Us
HTH

You don't have to address it.
I think I did one like that but now I can't remember what I wrote!
