Duck or chicken?
I absolutely love duck and really want to offer it as one of the dinner choices at the wedding, ie: filtet mignon, fish, and duck. FH is fine with this, however, when I mentioned it to some other people they seemed appalled that there would be no chicken option. Did anyone do this? What was the reaction? Should I change the options? TIA

Re: Duck or chicken?
I figured the really picky eaters would eat chicken, so I chose that over the duck & got one of the plainest ones they had.

Chicken is very popular and alot of people will not feel comfortable/ not want to eat Duck.
Can you ask if you can have chicken and possibly add another entree choice of Duck for your guests?? Maybe it will cost a little more but that is your decision.
We had both at our wedding and I honestly dont think too many people ordered the duck.

Re: Duck or chicken?
We did Duck at our engagement party and it was a hit among most of my guests.
We were also going to do duck at our wedding but decided to do Duck at the cocktail hour and have chicken as an option at the reception. Just made more sense for us.

Re: Duck or chicken?
It really depends on your guests. Do you have really picky eaters or people who will eat anything you put in front of them? Are they willing to try something new if they've never had duck before? Personally I like duck too, but being that chicken is more common I would prob go with that. See if the chef can make you a plate of the duck tho, a special dish for the bride!!

Re: Duck or chicken?
IMO I'd definitely go with the chicken. I am a really picky eater and would not be happy with those choices.
Hope tht helps

Re: Duck or chicken?
some people avoid beef fore health reasons.... some don't like fish. Chicken would be a good choice for them. It will probably be more popular than duck. Having duck at the CH is a good idea

Re: Duck or chicken?
We originally were going to have duck but then my parents and some others said that duck is great when prepared correctly but when it is bad it is BAD, I was a littkle frightened by that so I didn't chose this. We were going to add a chicken as i know a lot of ppl would not eat duck and be upset if a chicken dish was no on the menu.

Re: Duck or chicken?
I would go with chicken. I know a lot of people don't care for duck because if it is not cooked to perfection it tends to be greasy. Chicken would be a safer bet.

Re: Duck or chicken?
DH and I both love duck so we decided to do duck over chicken - esp since I wasn't too impressed with the chicken choices. It was a big hit. We also had four entree choices so there were other options for those not into the duck.

Re: Duck or chicken?
I ONLY eat chicken, and I don't eat duck because of the texture and the fat content. I would still do it if I were you. If that's what you want, then have it. In that case, I would just opt for the "silent" vegetarian option.

Re: Duck or chicken?
I love duck too. We had it as an option at my shower. We had lobster and shrimp risotto, some steak, and the duck. Only 5 people selected the duck. I would say there was 65 people at the shower.
