1 month until my wedding and NO DRESS!!

I'm SO upset and stressed out right now. I ordered my dress back in January and was told it would be here in May. Well, May rolls around and no dress.

I call and am told it is scheduled to ship on May 23. Fine.

May 23 comes and goes. No dress. I call last week. No dress.

I JUST called. NO dress, and they DON'T KNOW when it's expected to get here!!!

I am so upset. I have 1 month until my wedding (July 4), and I'll be away for work for the week of June 12th.

I don't even know what to do right now.

ETA: I had FH call the store since I'm too upset to deal with them. He was told that the dress will get here "hopefully by the 9th or 13th."

With me being gone for that week, that leaves me 2 weeks for fitting. Great.

Is that enough time?? Should I buy an off-the-rack back-up just in case?? How long do fittings take? Don't most people have more than one??

Ugh...

where did you order from? get out your contract, and read thru it to find anything that talks about thier liabilty/payments/when the dress should be in...and then go down there and refuse to leave until someone gives you a clear cut answer? Report them to the Better Business Bureau right away. If it's a large chain, try to call corporate.

Don't talk over the phone, go down there. And take someone with you.

I'm sooo sorry that this is happening to you.

Try not to panic, just go into damage control mode. Remain calm, things will be okay. Good luck.

OMG, I cant believe they would give you such a lame excuse. Have you talked to a manager? I would go there in person on a saturday afternoon and cause a scene. Its the only way your going to get these people to do something about it!!

OMG!!!!!!!!! Im sorry, I can only imagine the BS you are dealing w/. They tried to pull that w/ me, except I had a little more time.....

If I were you, I would get on the phone with the manufacturer ASAP! Make sure you find out exactly when the salon ordered the dress. Sometimes they hold the orders so they can submit a lot at once. If all else fails, go down there and speak to no one but the owner or manager!

WHOAAA, I understand your frustration, do try to take a deep breath though. I don't know where you got your dress, so I do not know what contract you signed.
However, I want to assure you two weeks should be plenty of time to get dress altered. i work in a salon, and we have had brides order dress, and do alterations within that same amount of time. If store is at all reputable, there is no doubt they will get it done, I promise!
Definitely go to the store, and speak with a manager, and I hope you are logging, everyone you talk to, and times and dates, it's your best recourse if you end up needing the better business bureau.
Shipping and everything is usually an estimated time, manager doesn't always have control over that. Dress would normally come in no later than 1 month prior to wedding.
Yes, lieing about date is good, if there is enough order time, we do it at our salon regularly.

I think you should call the company that makes the dress and ask them when they are shipping to the store - see what is really happening - also - if you can and have the money if the dress is not in on the date they said - go get another dress - that is just horrible!!! but I think you are ok with time.

Omigosh! It will work out! If a week goes by, plan B should be developed. The Knot lists some gals "2 Dress Brides" looking to sell new / unaltered dresses. I am one of them - have one in the salon right now.
There are options to help you until you get the Better Business involved (which would be after the big day).

what designer did you get your gown from?
some dresses take longer then others to get. like eve of milady gowns take at least 10 months, maggie sottero gowns take at least 5-6 months.

I would go to the store and have them make appts for fittings for you in the upcoming weeks so that you're a priority.

Soooo sorry to hear about that, lots of good advice on the other posts (we are having that prob with our BM dresses ordered in NOv but that is no where near the same as YOUR dress! ).

One of my co-workers had a similar experience, but with her Vera Wang BM dresses. Although it was crazy stressful for everyone involved, the 2 weeks was fine. Hey, look at the bright side--there's not much flucuation in weight over a 2 week span! I'd definitely talk to the manager of the store and see what the problem is.
