dumb new newlywed question -- update for NYC brides
I feel like a newbie again! 
How long does it normally take to receive your marriage certificate? Should I be worried that I don't have it yet?

It all depends on what clerk's office you got your license at...some of the smaller offices are quicker than the larger ones (I work in one on the East end)

We had ours when we returned from the honeymoon.
ETA: We got back a week and two days after our wedding and it was in the pile of mail so roughly a week.

Apparently things are done differently in New Jersey. After waiting for over a month, I called up and they told me that it had to be picked up. I was surprised, especially because our officiant didn't tell us that (you think she would've knowing that we live on Long Island).

Update -- DH went to the city clerk's office today and learned that NYC is running a month behind schedule in processing marriage licenses. They said it normally takes 4 weeks, so now it's more like a two month wait. He was able to get a few copies of our license, though. They had to dig it out of the mail and process it while he was there.
Now that he has the processed license, I guess it's my turn to go and start the daunting name change process...
