Did anyone keep their veil over their face until the part that goes "you may kiss the bride".
If so, do you have any pictures and how did it work out? Where you still able to participate fully in the ceremony?
Pros? Cons?

I think moste people let the person who walks them down the aisle remove the veil from their face.

that's what we did, My mom lifted the veil and "gave me away". I didn't want that thing in my face through the whole ceremony. It's awkward and you can't "see" clearly.

Re: Did anyone keep their veil over their face until the part that goes "you may kiss the bride".
I think it depends on the type of ceremony. In a Catholic mass you will receive communion before the kiss, so I think having the veil over your face would make all of that awkward. I wanted to wait until the kiss but let my dad do it. It was easier and also safer for the lighting of the unity candle.

I think the dad normally lifts it. I guess it depends on how long the ceramony is. What if you had it there for too long and your lipstick got on it?

I did not wear my veil over my face. I am happy with this choice because I love the pics of me walking up the aisle. You can really see my expression.

This is what I want to do! So you had it on until the end of the ceremony? Can you tell me how it worked logistically? I'm not having communion, but I want to do a Unity Candle, etc. Did you do this? Was it diffcult to see?

Re: Did anyone keep their veil over their face until the part that goes "you may kiss the bride".
Jewish brides are supposed to keep their faces covered. I didn't want to but I was quickly reminded of the Old Testament by my mother and sister and therefore will cover my face.
In the Jewish tradition, there is a veiling ceremony called the bedeken. This is a brief ceremony where the groom will come to the bride, verify her identity, and lower her veil. The custom of Bedeken recalls the predicament of Jacob, who thought he was marrying Rachel only to discover, after the ceremony, that he had married her older sister Leah. Their father wanted her married first. After the signing of the Ketubah (marriage license), the groom lowers the veil over the bride’s face, reminiscent of Rebecca’s covering her face before marrying Isaac. This ceremony is generally performed by more observant or orthodox Jews but some conservative and reform Jews do it as well.
This also means of course that the groom sees the bride before she walks down the aisle, but this is part of our culture so we just do it.

Re: Did anyone keep their veil over their face until the part that goes "you may kiss the bride".
I did and I was happy. I could see clearly, I think it looked great and the whole veil lifting really added something to the ceremony that I liked.
The only con was that you have to explain to your husband and your father (if he is walking you down the aisle) how to put it back in place.
Edited to add: I did not have communion at my ceremony but even if I did, it wouldnt have matterd b/c I would not have had the priest place anything in my mouth. I would have taken the wafer in my hands and then put it in my mouth.
Maybe it was just the veil I had but it did not obstruct my sight at all! Once it was on, it was perfectly transparent.

I wore mine over my face for the walk down the aisle (dad lifted it when he gave me away) and you can see my expression perfectly in the pics... It's not like it's a sheet over your head!

Re: Did anyone keep their veil over their face until the part that goes "you may kiss the bride".
My sister kept her veil on while she was walking down the aisle, and we could NOT see her face. So, I'm not wearing one over my face. But whomever posted about Jewish traditions, I was just going to write the same thing, so thank you for posting it!

Re: Did anyone keep their veil over their face until the part that goes "you may kiss the bride".
I am having my dad take it off of my face when I get to the alter. I am only having the blusher for when I walk down the isle....BUT, my photographer showed me pics of girls with their blushers on and the pics were amazing!! I think that it will be fine, but I have heard that veils with shiny finishes dont photograph very well so be careful

Re: Did anyone keep their veil over their face until the part that goes "you may kiss the bride".
I thought it was the Groom who lifted the veil when the Minister says to Kiss The Bride. I like that you guys are pretty much all saying that the Father does (or whoever's giving you away). I'm wearing a blusher, but I DEFINITELY don't want it over my face for the entire ceremony. I paid all that money to get my hair and makeup done, i wanna show it off! And in the pictures of the ceremony I don't want it to look as tho FH is marrying a ghost. They need to see my pretty face, excuse you!!
