How long were you engaged??-Bridal party question

Im newly engaged and feel like some friends expect to be asked to be in my bridal party immediately. Like, guess what? Im engaged! will you be one of my bridesmaids?

How long were you guys engaged before you decided on your bridal party members?

I really havent absorbed the engaged thing yet, let alone knowing the # of people I want to have stand beside me.

I didn't ask my girls for a whole ....I asked my MOH but that's my sister and it was unspoken that she was going to be my MOH ...or my mother would kill me ...

but I was engaged about 2 mts. before anything was said .....Just remember there so happy for you thats why there jumpy! its a good thing

Take your time! Soak it all in and think about it before you make a decision. If you're having an e-party that might be a good time to tell them o r you cna have a special get together just to invite the BP. We called people up immediately (as in within an hour) "We're engaged, want to be a groomsman?" and I kind of regret it in some ways because I didn't have to time to devise a nice way of asking them with a pretty card or something, and I didn't even pick all of my BMs yet, so some have known for a year and a half and some have yet to find out, and I kind of don't want them to know that. Also FH asked someone who I'm really not thrilled with ebing in it. It's better to take the time to think it through. Don't let people pressure you. When you are ready to ask them, they will be more than thrilled to have the honor.

I waited about 3 months...it's acutally better to make sure WHO you want to be in the wedding party rather than make rash decisions.

For some reason, I really wanted the bridal party to be set prettymuch right away, so I asked people as we told them we were engaged. But you can wait a while. I would definitely tell anyone who may be even a possibility for your BP that you are engaged right away though.

Welcome and congrats!!!
I knew my MOH right away, the rest of the BMs, I thought long and hard about but not too long only 3 months later I asked the rest of them....Do not stress it...is the number one key. Today u can have more BMs than GM doesn't matter, its your day DO IT YOUR WAY!!!

First of all Congratulations and welcome to LIW! I Waited between 3 and 5 motnhs before I asked my bridal party. Spend time just enjoying this great moment in your life before you rush into all of the intricate wedding planning.

We had been planning our engagement for months before it actually happened so we discussed our bridal party at length. No one (friends or family) expected to be in the BP.

Except for my MOH (my sister), I didn't ask anyone for almost a year. I didn't want to ask them when it was still so far away - I wanted it to be tangible, with a date, location and some other details (but also, by the time we're married, it will have been a 28 month engagement).

I've been engaged since September and with the exception of my FSIL, I haven't asked anyone and I don't intend to until August or September. Take your time, don't feel pressured to ask. Enjoy being engaged

i wated 2 months before asking my girls. you want to make sure the ones you ask will NOT stress you out but help you all the way. I asked my daugters adopted god mother (long storie) to be my maid of honor and not my sister for the simple fact she would have totaly stressed me out. think about for a while my fiance still has not asked his men yet.

My MOH was there when my FI proposed. It was kind of understood between the both of us that she would be my maid of Honor, although it was a subject never brought up before I was engaged. We both just knew, so I said right on the spot.. Michelle.. YOUR MY MOH!!! (Kind of a crasy way to ask but thats just how we are.

About my bridal party.. Ive still yet to ask one other girl. The rest of my bridal party I have asked months ago. Some of the girls were asked at my engagement party last August.
It all depends on you. Def think about it, and dont rush into ANYTHING to avoid regret down the road.

I have been engaged 6 months and just recently decided and asked my bridesmaids....

It's better to wait then to ask early..I have heard a lot of stories about girls who asked to early and wish they could take it back....

I asked my sister before we got engaged I asked two of my BMs about 2 weeks after we were engaged, and then I asked the other 2 about two months later.

I have been engaged for almost 8 months and still have to ask my flower girls and one of my BM. Take your time and enjoy your new engagement. There's no rush and you don't want to regret this decision. The time will come to take care of everything else.

We actually had ours all planned out before hand so when I called them with the good news, I asked them to be my BM as well.

I was so excited I called most of them the night we got engaged ....I should have waited and thought about one because she backed out on Christmas...but thats another story

I've been engaged for a little over a month. I haven't asked anyone formally but my sister-in-law (brother's wife) & I talk about it all the time.
