Fox Hollow review - Memorial Day weekend wedding - with a few amateur pictures

Just wanted to share a review of Fox Hollow from Memorial Day Monday afternoon - May 2002 from the bride's point of view. I was a guest but do not recall many details except I had a great time and the ice cream cake (in addition to the wedding cake) was great. There was a ton of food and most guests assumed cocktail hour was it. According to the bride they did not add any upgrades except flowers on the cake for like $100.

At the time, I did not know Fox Hollow did more than one wedding at a time since they handled this wedding so well. I don't have any pictures scanned although I did take a ton back then and gave copies to the groom.

The couple has moved but are in NY this weekend visiting for their 3 year anniversary.

So, back to the review. This was a Jewish wedding with a twist. There was a rabbi and a priest since my friend (the groom) is Catholic. Her family came in from CA and the groom's family came in from Miami. They decided to see each other before the ceremony to take pictures. The bride (who made the mistake of having her BP on Saturday night through Sunday) stayed at the Inn at Fox Hollow with the bridal party before the wedding. She was throwing up all weekend and thinks she had alcohol poisoning from the BP that Saturday night. She burst a blood vessel in her eye but I had no idea about this until now. The photographer (not sure of his name but will get it) was excellent. I do know he is the assistant of a $9K photographer and he shot the $9K photographer's wedding. The assistant was $4,500 (half price of the photographer she wanted to use). You could not tell that the blood vessel had burst. She said the Inn was wonderful to her and her guests and that it was a beautiful photo location.

The wedding was in the afternoon. Cocktail hour was first in the Winter Garden Pavillion, the ceremony was about an hour in the front garden and then the reception was in the Briar Fox. There were about 120 guests.

The bride said they were treated like royalty by Fox Hollow. Everything went smoothly and the only reason she even knew there were other weddings taking place (3 possible at a time at Fox Hollow) is because they opted to take photos prior to their afternoon wedding. Because of that, they saw the rooms being set up and other brides arriving.

Her only caution was the bouquet toss and the garter toss. I did not recall this until she mentioned it but a 14 year old girl caught the bouquet and a 7 year old boy caught the garter. It was hilarious to see him put the garter on the little girl. Her SIL was married 3 months later and because of that, the SIL had all the little girls come up and she tossed them flowers and then she had all the little boys come up and she tossed them footballs. The SIL then had the adults come up for the bouquet & garter toss.

Oh, and the bride said Fox Hollow included the aisle runner and the flowers with pedestals for the aisle. They are roses, lillies, some filler & greenery (all white). I think there were 6 or eight pedestals along the aisle.

The cake flowers were about $100.

ETA - the photographer they wanted was David Lindner
David Lindner and they used his assistant instead.
