Repost from 05 - FSIL Vent (Long)
I asked my FSIL to be in the wedding party b/c I knew it would mean a lot to her. She is older so, she asked me to keep that in mind when picking the dresses. For this reason I decided to go with separates.
Well last night FSIL called me from the bridal shop and asks me if it is OK for her to get a dress instead of the separates b/c she hates the way she looks in the separates and it is making her miserable.. (Keep in mind the rest of my girls ordered their separates in March)… I was speechless all I could say is I guess so, I don't want to make you miserable.
Now I want to take it back.. I can't have her stand out like she is the MOH. I was thinking of things I could do to make my sister stand out more and can't think of anything that will stand out more then FSIL in a different dress. I think I am going to have FH call his mom and have her let FSIL now how wrong she was to even suggest this and that she needs to change it to separates. Am I being a bridezilla??

no- you are not being a bridezilla!! you need to communicate this to her yourself, imo. to have fmil do so will just make it more easily misconstrued. i would just explain to her why you picked the separates and etc.
AND...where was she in march???

Re: Repost from 05 - FSIL Vent (Long)
FH and I discussed it last night and with FSIL's personality I want to talk to his mom before anyone says anything to her.
She was "busy" in March..

I don't think you are being a Bridezilla....I would just talk to her yourself and explain that you thought about it some more and would rather her wear the separates like everyone else..A totally reasonable request.. Good Luck

Definitly not being a bridezilla..You did the right thing by allowing your girls chose the type of top/bottom they feel most comfortable in...HER asking if she can wear a different dress is..is...RETARDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The way I see it, in agreeing to be in a BP you are agreeing to look awful if that is what the bride wants. Last weekend I was in a BM dress that was so unflattering that 4 people asked if I was PG (I am now a size 8 dress, up from a 6 for my wedding, but definitely NOT PG!). Anyhoo, I went along because what can you do. She needs to suck it up.

Thanks for the support ladies! I am going to ask FMIL for advice on how to handle this with FSIL.

Re: Repost from 05 - FSIL Vent (Long)
I would talk to her myself and tell her that you think she should go with the separates and that she is not the MOH and if she goes with the one piece dress then she will stand out more then the MOH would and the reason why you agreed with her request was becuz she caught you off guard. I would also explain to her that these dresses were the dresses that were picked by everyone and not to sound rude but you had a few months already to go look at the dresses before they were ordered to let us know if you liked them or not.

The odd part is this is her second trip to the bridal salon. She went last month and told me she loved like five of the tops and couldn't decide...

You're def not being a bridezilla!! I agree with the rest of the girls on here, she's got to get her act together. She's not the MOH and needs to look like the other BMs.
