Past brides: What little things did you do/make at your wedding that you think stood out for your guests?
Hey girls-
I am at the 30 day mark here and I am trying to think what little DIY projects and things I should make, and what would just be a waste of my time. Also, if anyone has any interesting/different ideas that they did that they think stood out for their guests, please share!
The only things I am thinking of doing so far: candle votives cry packs menu signature drink (but have no clue what) picture guest book
any other ideas welcome please!!! :)

Re: Past brides: What little things did you do/make at your wedding that you think stood out for your guests?
not much of a diy project but we're having the dj put a phot montage of fh and i growing up and the us through the yrs. during dinner.
i also will have frames around ch with our parents and grandparents wedding pix, and 2 collages of bridal party pix. and in the reception room there will be pix of my 3 grandparents (no longer w/ us), a memory poem, and candles.
i also did "we do" letters0 and a cake topper that resembles fh, our cat, our dog, and me, but i bet noone will notice or care. but i love it!

I don't think anyone cried during our ceremony. Or the other three weddings I've gone to in the past few months.

I had heard this too...IMO cry packs are sweet, but I can't see myself using one and think they might end up being thrown away and therefore a waste of money for you.
But I like the bride who said that she was doing a photo montage of her and FH from childhood till now...what a cute idea. My BM had this at her rehersal dinner, her dad put it together on his computer, and it was hysterical...Everyone loved it There was a picture of her from elem. school where she looked like Screech, perm and all. It was classic, we were all crying we were laughing so hard

not my words... I will definitely be supplying a cry pack to my FMIL though. more like a whole box of Kleenex she's kind of a drama queen and cries at the drop of a hat.

Re: Past brides: What little things did you do/make at your wedding that you think stood out for your guests?
I'm doing a a collage of family and friends and I have a bell ringer. There's the slipper basket, petal cones, photocube cardbox, scavenger hunt list for the table cameras, hands ceremony reading, rose ceremony for ceremony, having mom's light the taper candles..these are just ideas. I'm not doing all of them.

Okay, I am not a past bride yet either, but we are planning on the following:
*Dedicating our aisle baskets (2) to our departed family--we'll have a small note in the program
*Also in the program, I might mention where my something borrowed and old items came from--there is some significance. I'm carrying items from each of my grandmothers, both of them have passed away.

Re: Past brides: What little things did you do/make at your wedding that you think stood out for your guests?
Not a past bride but I plan on doing two collages of pictures that include everyone invited to the ceremony/reception. This is to show how everyone has touched our lives and is important to us.
Still thinking of other ways to include everyone somehow.

Re: Past brides: What little things did you do/make at your wedding that you think stood out for your guests?
We did a litle bit, we did not want It to look too sweet16ish. Instead of table #'s we had frames custom made with our picture in it and the table #, ( My FSIL makes them, FM mail me for info.) small hershey bars with our names and a quote and they were scattered on the tables. We also had an ice sculpture of a crusie ship , we love to travel and go on cruises. HTH

Re: Past brides: What little things did you do/make at your wedding that you think stood out for your guests?
slipper basket (which I still have because I forgot it in my trunk)
petal cones with herbal mix for toss
photocube cardbox
scavenger hunt list for the table cameras
hand ceremony
sand ceremony
menus at each setting
edible sugar cookie favors (people flipped for these and asked if I had any extra to take with them)
votive placecards (another one people flipped for)
men/women bathroom baskets (people took almost everything in them. I laughed so hard when I got them back and they were so bare!)
I had 8 bell ringers. People loved them! They thought it was the cutest and most unique idea they had ever seen at a wedding.
Wanted soooo badly to do a personalized runner and I have all the stuff for it, but I never got the chance to do it. That's really my only real regret.
Also did cute OOT boxes for the guests at the hotel. People were still talking about them the day after, at the breakfast.
Custom Homer and Marge caketopper
we dedicated and played all our siblings wedding songs - they were really touched

Bell ringers are people In my case, they were 7 neices and 1 nephew who we couldn't "fit" into the bridal party.
So what they did was start the ceremony, by announcing the bride was coming. They came in ringing their little crystal bells, before the processional.

Re: Past brides: What little things did you do/make at your wedding that you think stood out for your guests?
The things that people mentioned to me as standing out, weren't really the DIY prjects. We got a lot of compliments on the food, the band & the centerpieces.
I did the programs myself, but nothing crazy, & I did the place cards & table numbers myself & put the table numbers in little leaf place card holders. A few peopel noticed & liked that, but I loved it, so I am glad I did it.
I also bought my own candles & vases filled with leaves to decorate the hall & I don't know how many people appreciated it, but I think it added to the overall ambience I wanted & I was happy with it. So, really, don't stress too much.
Oh, the other thing people liked was the bathroom basket my mom did.
