DON"T KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO???
Ok so after work today I went and met with the florist that I really want to use. We met a few weeks ago but I couldn't really decide on a centerpiece. So I went there today and I think I may have something now, but she can't give me a definite price until tomorrow when she checks with her wholesaler. She said because it is Feb she doesn't know a price. So she has the sheet with everything broken down on it such as bouquets and things like that. I ask her if I can have a copy and she tells me no because I can take it to another florist. I was kind of taken back because I only have in my head what to go on as far as price. Does this seem a little odd to you guys???? I am a little skeptical.
Also she said that in order to make a sample centerpiece she would need to have left of flowers that I want from a wedding.
I really want to use this florist because her work is amazing but I didn't like that she can't share what she already has on paper.
Am I making a big deal?? What was your experiences with the florists you met???
SORRY SO LONG

Re: DON"T KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO???
One florist did the same to me -- she showed me a list of prices, but when I asked for it, she wouldn't give it to me. I was able to remember the prices, so I wrote them down when I got to the car. I didn't end up going with that florist, but only because I got better quotes from other florists.

Re: DON"T KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO???
It could be her internal price sheet. It's always good to take notes when you meet with vendors since they may not share pricing sheets.
"Also she said that in order to make a sample centerpiece she would need to have left of flowers that I want from a wedding."
Not sure what you mean by that...are you asking for special flowers that she doesn't normally have in stock?

Re: DON"T KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO???
Well she said that in order to make me a sample centerpiece she whould need left over flowers from a previous wedding. She works from her studio at home. So I guess she only orders what she needs.

Re: DON"T KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO???
Some places do make you pay for the sample to cover cost. Would you be willing to do that? Or do you feel comfortable enough not to see a sample?

Re: DON"T KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO???
Well if you really want to use them I would just make sure that you stay on top of them ...It would make me a little nervious too...What we did was use the florest for our E-party first and since I was happy we booked them for the wedding ....she had everything I wanted at that time and if she wasnt sure of something she checked while I was there ...she gave me a copy of everything and I only had to leave a 50 dollar deposit- and nothing else has to be paid till a week before so if I wanted to change anything I would only loose 50 dollars ....
I am sorry I hope everything works out for you

Honesly, I would pay for it so you know the quality of her work as well as the flowers she will be using. That way you will be saving yourself amny months of doubt.

Re: DON"T KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO???
OMG! I went through the same thing with the Howard Beach PEDESTALS and didn't book them b/c of that! I loved their work, heard so many reviews, but she refused to give me a breakdown, a copy of what she wrote up, or anything! I ended up going with National Floral who broke down everything, came in below my budget, and made a sample CP! I would not trust this florist - sorry.
