I might get chewed out for this one but I gotta ask....

With all thats been going on lately with fake brides and all, do any of you ever question the validity of a profile when there isnt any info about anything in the profile (just initials, no pic, etc)??? To the brides that do not have info in their profile or personal pics, please do not take offense to this as I understand some people would like to keep their identity to themselves but I was just wondering what you girls thought.

Honestly, I don't.
Not everyone is comfortable posting their pics and such on the internet. Me for one...

Since I don't do it, I don't expect others to.

ehhh i dont really think about it too much. although i hope everyone on here are real brides, having one or two fake brides on here isnt surprising and it doesnt phaze me at all--it is the internet after all.

I wonder sometimes, if certain brides are real. But I understand the need to protect your privacy, especially after what just happened. my info is in my profile- whats to stop anyone who hates me from crashing my wedding? So I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt if they dont have a lot of info in their profile.

The vendors posing as brides are pretty obvious though.

There have always been fake brides as far as I know - it's just that this recent one was really good - she duped a lot of people. Most fakies are spotted fairly quickly, this one had the board going for about 2 years, under 4 different names, possibly more that we don't know about.

Unfortunatly with the internet, you have to be really careful with the information you publish, and who you trust. Ths one had the ability to go out of her way to get you to trust her, she would use information about you to become close to you, and then use it to her advantage. She put people againse one another, and what's worse, is she used someone's personal hardship to ge them to stand up for her, and, in turn, feel bad for her.

Are some of the brides without information 'fakes'? It's a strong possibility. But I would assume that many of them are just keeping their identity to themselves, not only to protect themselves from family members and friends who might be lurking, but also from nut jobs like the one found out a few days ago...

While the internet is a wonderful informational tool, and a wonderful way to keep in touch with friends/make new friends, it's also opened up a path for very unsable people to get information that was not previously as easily avilible to them.

Honestly, I'd take 50 of the annoying ones pretending to be a bride reccomending themselves anyday over someone who gets you to trust them and then hurts you. That's really scary, and really sad to know that someone has such little life of their own, that they have to screw around with others.

I happen to be a bride that doesnt have any info on here....there are a few reasons.
1) Awhile back someone had posted that her wedding hall was called and someone canceled her wedding....that made me nervous.
2) I don't know who is out there lurking and I dont want to offend or hurt anyone.
3) I dont think its that important for all my information to be out there....I dont mind sharing if I was in a conversation but it should be my choice what info i give out and to who.
If someone wants to question my validity then I completely understand because I do not have my info posted.

I am not an 05 bride so i hope you don't mind me crashing on this thread, but being a bride who has been on here for well over a year and never posting one picture of myself i understand why people don't do it. I don't have any vendors either written down but you can check them out in my review.

The reason i don't post anything is because i am a very private person and i don't know who might be lurking on these boards. I have sent a few girls via FM pictures of my wedding but to just them.

Honestly their have been recent fakes that have posted pictures that are supposedly them...we will never know if it really was them....so its hard to tell when you have a nut job on here. I think a majority of the girls who don't post pics of themselves are just more comfortable not doing it. THe nut jobs can still post any old pic they have.

I also don't have any info in my profile for the same reason as someone above stated. A girl's hall was called and someone pretended to be her. So I am not too keen on putting all my info out there. Normally you can sniff the fakies out right away if they are promoting someone or something.

I also don't post any personal info like last names, where I live, etc.

Occasionally, I wonder about certain brides but if someone seems "genuine" then I usually don't. I don't like posting pics of myself for the same reason a lot of other girls said -- there are some weirdos out there (as we've all learned recently!) -- and I never posted of FH because he was a government attorney. You just never know who is out there.

As for vendor info, I waiver back and forth between keeping it up there. One reason I do keep it up is because I think it's helpful for people -- they can look at our profiles, see who we're using, and FM us for info if they're considering booking that person. On the other hand, if they are curious about a vendor, they could always just post a thread. Geez, can you tell I'm a lawyer? "Well. on the one hand..but on the other hand..." Yeah, I think I might take down my info!

I don't really like posting personal photos either. Maybe because I am fairly new to the board. I also think that "fake brides" , if they are crazy enough can post "fake pics" of themselves.

I have yet to figure out how to post photos, I don't even think I am at the # of posts required to post pictues anyway. But when I reach it, I still won't post anything...their are some wierdo's out there and I don't want them being able to access my personal info. I think that the knot has a bunch of wierdo's over there, that's why I stopped posting anything there. LIweddings seems like genuine brides sharing info, I always got the feeling on the knot that most of the people posting were just bored and finding people to prey on and be mean. JMO

I NEVER posted pictures before my wedding besides GTG photos. And I never filled in all my vendor info either although from reading posts I am sure someone could figure out all my vendors. Thats just the way I am - a private person. I met brides in person over a year ago so everyone knows I am legit!

Not really.

As far as people not listing their detailsl, I think it's just a privacy issue. If you think about it , most of us post such personal info on here, it would be so easy for a psycho to get a hold of it!!
