sooooooo annoyed...need to vent

I am having my three nieces & one nephew as flower girls / ring bearer. Their ages range from 3 to 5 by my wedding date...since it's a night wedding, my brothers & their wives have arranged to have the kids picked up at the reception after the cocktail hour & brought home to go to bed. FI has four nieces ages 5-8. I was kind of dropping hints to his sister in law about how my nieces/nephew were getting picked up early & she didn't seem to get my hint that I didn't want kids at the wedding....well his mother submits the guest list to me with their names on the list. So guess what, she wants them invited. When FH realized they were invited, he said that is ridiculous, he was going to speak to his mom, they should not be at an "adult wedding". Tonight he tells me he spoke to his mom & she said we should invite them, now all of a sudden it's no big deal to him that they will be there. I just don't want kids running around all night. His nieces tend to get hyper when they are around each other...and the 5 year old is very spoiled & cries all the time...Sorry so long, needed to vent..

I hope it all works out for you - I don't understand people who insist on bringing their young children to a wedding (especially if they weren't specifically invited or asked to be part of the BP).

I'm with you all the way on that one! IMO, a night wedding is no place for little kids.

the only 2 kids we're having at our wedding is my FH's niece and my cousin who I am close with. one is 13 and one is 11.

If you didnt send out invitations yet I would send them out specifically saying 2 people on the response card (I saw good ideas like that on here somewhere.

I am NOT having children at my ceremony/reception and I have about 18 cousins under 19 not invited! Thats just how it is. Tell her children are not invited and the only reason those children are coming for a little while is because they are in the bridal party and they are even going home early!

I would talk to FH again depending on how much you really want an all adult reception.

I REALLY wanted an all adult reception.
Im only having 3 children, my son and RB and FG. Im hoping noone else invites their kids

I totally agree with you and I do think you should talk to your FH about it because it sounds like he is just trying to avoid conflict I don't get people, my FSIL is insisting that they bring their child, absolutely insisting so much so that even after I said adult only, she said well, then I'll just keep him on my lap the whole time...........rrrrrriiiiiigggggghhhhhttttt. I'm amazed at how many of my friends want to bring their kids to our wedding. It never even occured to me, but I guess when you're a parent it's different.

You've got to ask yourself how much it will impact you on your day. If you REALLY do not want to have them at the evening reception and feel it will spoil your night, put your foot down and say NO WAY.

I just didn't want it to turn out to be a birthday party atmosphere. I would probably be ok if it were just one little girl, but four??? And one of the four is his second cousin to top it off. I'm not inviting ANY of my second cousins. His uncle had a surprise 70th party about 3 weeks ago & no kids were invited, nobody had a problem with that!!! I did just tell FH about at least getting his second cousin off the list saying it's not fair that she is invited - his response was "nobody will know she's not immediate family" ugggggggggggggg!!! so aggravating. Thanks for listening

My FH refuses to budge on having his niece and nephew who are from out of town and don't have a sitter available to be there all night and they are holy terrors! I invited my brother's wife's half-sisters (don't ask!) who are 6 and 4 and very well-behaved to "play" with them at the reception. I am having nightmares though about the four of them running wild and turning over the cake! I feel your pain! I wish I could have put my foot down but there was no solution to it.

I am not one of those people who say its an "adult only reception" but I totally understand where everyone is coming from.

We invited everyone "and family" and no one except my OOT cousin who's daughter was my FG brought her kids ( ages 4 &8) besides my son they were the only kids at the wedding. They did run around and play... but did I notice??? NOPE!

Some of my favorite pics are me and my FG dancing on the dancefloor!!!

So like I said I understand how you feel. But maybe she has no one to watch them??
I know twords the end my cousins children got a little hyper and went a little crazy when the vienesse carts started coming out but I really didnt notice it one bit!!! That will be the last thing on your mind on your wedding day!
