RP from BHB... Help me choose between florists (long, sorry!!!)
Ladies,
I need some help! I'm trying to choose between two florists, and I'd like to know, which would YOU choose?
Let me tell you the relevant info as to what is making this decision so hard for me. I met with one florist and LOVED them. They were wonderful people, with AWESOME personalities, and I know they really loved their job and would do a great job at our wedding. Also, since FH and I recently moved out of NY but are still having our wedding in NY, they built us a beautiful centerpiece on our first meeting with them to make things more convenient for us. We really loved the centerpiece. FH and my mom didn't love the vase it was in, but that could be changed of course. Honsetly, we 100% thought we'd book them when we left our meeting with them.
The 2nd florist we met with did not make us a centerpiece, as it is that company's policy not to order all of the expensive flowers and build one until they are booked. however, that florist said that once we book them, they will build us a gorgeous centerpiece and we can, of course, make any changes we want if we don't like something. In the meantime, we discussed what we wanted with them in detail and they wrote out a very detailed plan (down to the specific flower colors and types in every centerpiece and bouquet) for our event. Their plans sounded like exactly what I have always pictured. Also, their proposal was VERY detailed. It included everything they would do for us, from the aisle runner, to every flower in every bouquet, to every ribbon, table overlay, etc. The price included everything we'd pay them - even tax! There would clearly be no surprises.
The first florist's proposal was not as detailed at all, it actually left a lot of details out when compared with the 2nd florist- - - and I'm sure additional costs would come up eventually. I'm sure I could talk about this with them and have them include everything if I want to go with them, but now I'm wondering if the company with the more detailed proposal just is a better choice because it seems they really thought of everything up front, and really know all of the specifics & details of what the wedding will entail, and put it all in writing. I mean, is it a big deal if one florist says "white roses" and another one lists 5 different types of specific ivory and white roses? The first florist, on the other hand, I think, kind of went more out of their way for us, especially since we live out of state.
The bottom line is I really think either florist would do a great job... and with the prices being very similar, it's a hard choice to make.
What would you do? Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks, Kim

Re: RP from BHB... Help me choose between florists (long, sorry!!!)
it's a hard one, but my mother always tells me to go with my gut. It sounds like you really believe the first florist you met with loves what they do, and you feel that they will be fun to work with.....if you weren't thinking about 5 different shades of white when you sat down with the florist...then don't start second guessing your instincts because they brought it up. If you want to go with the first florist, look at the contract from the second and make a list of things that are important to you, and discuss them with the first.....sorry this was so long winded, but I hope it helps
