The Wedding March - I Don't..
So for some reason, I really do not want to walk down the aisle to the Wedding March ("Here comes the bride"..). Not really sure what it is, but whenever I hear it I know it's not for me.
Anyone else feel that way? What song are you walking down the aisle to? Suggestions for good classical/instrumental songs?
Thanks in advance!

Re: The Wedding March - I Don't..
I felt the same way too. Cannon in D is really nice. However, I opted for something non-traditional. We had a classical guitarist and I walkd down to "Fields of Gold" by Sting and my girls walked down to Cannon in D. Fields of Gold was the only non-classical song that was played during the ceremony. It was played beautifully by the guitarist.

Re: The Wedding March - I Don't..
There's another wedding song that is pretty popular for walking down the aisle. Its Pachelbel's Canon in D. I love it. Its very classic and I'm almost positive that it will be the music I'll use.

Lots of people don't use the wedding march for a variety of reasons. Canon in D is very popular, and I may use Greensleeve for myself or the BP.
If you ask your ceremony musicians I'm sure they can give you advice. We're looking at cappricio ensemble (an LIW vendor) and they sent me their CD to hear their playing, but it also gave me some 30 songs to consider!

Me too. I felt the same way. Everytime I hear this Pachelbel Cannon song, I just imagine me walking down the isle to my man. So this is what I chose. I wasn't crazy about walking down the isle to the wedding march either.

My reason for not using it, as I have said before is that Wagner, who wrote it, was a known anti-semite and Mendelssohn who wrote the corresponding recessional was a convert to Christianity. Not that there is anything wrong with conversion but thats how it goes. That is why a person would rarely, if ever, hear either at a Jewish wedding.

I felt that way. My favorite classical piece is Canon which is what I used. It's very popular to use now instead of the March.

I love Con Te Partiro. That was my forst choice, but FH didn't like it, so I'm going with Yanni's In the Morning Light. It's a beautiful piano instrumental.
