Here Comes the Bride
Has anyone read or tried to read Here Comes the Bride, by Jaclyn Geller? The author says she is going to write about women, weddings, and the hoopla surrounding weddings in our culture, and she does. But much of the book is skewers the institution of marriage. Basically, the author feels no woman should get married since the institution of marriage has an awful history, women were once considered property, etc. She feels we would be better off forming lifelong friendships. While I agree friends are important, and some brides and grooms neglect them after getting married, I feel there is room for both in one's life.
Any thoughts or views on this book?
