Hotel room for our wedding night - free?

So, I am very dissapointed that the hotel that we have over 40 rooms blocked at (there are only 70 in the whole hotel) isn't willing to give my groom and I a room for free on our wedding night.

Is this wrong of me to assume they would be nice about this, or at least give us a discount? They told us that since they have already given us group rates, there is nothing else they can do for us in terms of discounts.

Has anyone been successful in getting a free hotel room for their wedding night? Just wondering...thanks.

The only time I have heard bride & grooms getting rooms for free was when they had their wedding at a hotel. I am paying for my room at the hotel we have booked.

At our hotel, if we booked 10 or more rooms, we stay free on our wedding night.... and we're not getting married there!

If you are giving them 40 rooms worth of business, the LEAST they can do is give you a 50% discount on your room!!! I would look somewhere else and try and have the rooms switched - that's really cheap of them

Our room was free with the block we had.

I got a free room at the Garden City Hotel for our wedding night because I booked my hall.

yea, thats what i heard too. if they already gave a discount for the group, i'd be happy but usually you have to pay

I've blocked 10 rooms off with a hotel for my OOT guests, and if all 10 rooms are booked, then we get a free room. (Hilton Garden Inn in Ronkonkoma).

The suite is included in our package from the Harrison House. With what our wedding is costing, I really wouldn't consider it "free"- it's "included".

Did I mention the hotel I am talking about is in NYC? Maybe that makes a difference, since they assume they will be able to book the rooms without my help.

Either way, they could be a little friendlier about it, or at least offer me some more $$ off if they aren't going to do it for free.

I think you need to have your wedding there in order to have a free room.

We had 30 rooms booked in one hotel, and we didn't get our room free, either. I don't think they do that.

We get a free honeymoon suite at Roslyn Claremont since our reception is there.

Well since the hotel is in NYC that makes a huge difference. I would say nothing is for free in teh city but maybe I am wrong.

Yea, I also agree. Manhattan does make a difference. But I would try to speak to a manager at least for a discounted rate.

It doesn't hurt to try.
