Children at the Wedding

Hi Girls, I dont want to have children at my wedding whatso ever.. So how do I break the news to all my little cousins and their parents?

Seriously, why is it such a hard thing to admit that you dont want kids at the wedding???

by saying just that. the kids may be disappointed....but maybe if you're close to them, you can do a little something with them to celebrate with you.

I agree with you. I went to my cousins wedding and the children were rolling around on the dance floor and one almost knocked the wedding cake over.. !

We're having no children and I have yet to figure out how to break the news. I think I"m going to have my mother and FMIL spread the word for me, if they'll agree to be the messengers.

We're not having any kids at the wedding either. I give my relatives subtle hints like addressing the save the dates to Mr. & Mrs. instead of to the family.
Also, if people ask about the wedding I mention how great everything is and how many people we're thinking of having. I then add... "That's why we're not having kids. We already have such a huge list." Trust me, once you say it to one family member, they all know.

You may want to tell them directly. If you think it will be an issue, earlier is better than later. Don't wait until the invites to mention it.

Having a babysitter, or two, come to a hotel room is a pretty good idea.

This is what I told my family since we are paying for the wedding ourselves we can't afford to have all the children. Between my family and FH familythere are like 40 kids and most of them would be 1/2 rice and very few would be 1/4 price and we just can't afford that. I'm sorry we would loveto have them but just can't afford to.

The word was spread around I didn't have to tell everyone cuz I told my mom and a few of my relatives and the word was spread and we told my FMIL and she told her entire family.

i dont remember going to any weddings before I was like 16 or even older. And many of these weddings I didnt go to were my cousins. I dont think they'll have a problem, but my FI's family is in for a rude awakening. They bring the kids everywhere.
(thats why my FI has insomnia, they keep the kids up past midnight in their family)

I'm having 2 children and they are in the wedding party.......you shouldn't have to explain yourself to anyone, maybe they won't even want to bring them since its a night out for them

On my reception card, it will say:

ADULT RECEPTION
Villa Lombardi's, etc. etc.

Whoever doesn't come, doesn't come.

My ceremony and reception are at the same place. The only LITTLE children will be from my bridal party and to be honest, I am close enough to their parents (who are also in the BP) to offer/suggest to have their parents or in-laws come and stay through the cocktail hour. They will then take the kids home after introductions (and I havent even decided if I even WANT to do BP intros)at the reception. The parents of the little ones want to have a good time and you can't do that chasing after a three year old. Certainly not at a formal wedding on a Saturday night. My wedding may run past 1 am. Children should bein bed way before then anyway. No kids. If they don't like it? DON'T COME!!!

Besides, why do people want kids at a wedding anyway? For a photo-op in their family album when people can say "Awwww remember how cute they were at the wedding....blah blah blah?" People can be selfish.

Hmm..That's a tough one b/c you don't want to insult anybody. I would just be honest with all of them & explain to them why you don't want children at the wedding.

I didn't have this problem. I had my nephews, his nephews (bridal party) and my cousin's kids They were on the invite because we are close. The other kids were not invited because they were too young. Nobody called me on it and I didn't hear a peep from the others. They are probably secretly conspiring against me.

I am not having children at my wedding either ....I Explained to both of our mothers that's its a long day and night and I feel that its an Adult even and no place for children ....and Since I am a chicken I let them spread the word ...No one has really asked us...and a few people said that they just didnt want to bring there kids because the wedding isnt going to be over till 1 am

i don't want any siblings but unfortunatly i have small siblings and i mean small. my dad has a 2 and a 3 yr old and my mom has 11 and 8 yr old. Both parents remarried. Now if they come then other people said why can't the other come. The thing is people don't understand. Don't know what i am going to do.
