Anyone ever work with a temp agency.

My cousin made a suggestion that I try a temp agency THOUGHTS?

I worked for ASAP temps in Smithtown for a summer and ended up getting a FT job where they assigned me and stayed for 3 years before I moved from NY

go for it! I worked with a bunch during college and even afterword!

u could learn various of fields. the down size there's not always long term assignments. some do have long term assignments. u don't have medical benefits. when the company you're working for is closed, u dont get paid

My sister did it a few years back and stayed with a job for 2 years!

Im not worried about Benefits. My DH has excellent benefits.

ASAP gives you a test and then places you with a job that fits your skills. I was a receptionist for the summer but I was making $10 an hr

i worked for a temp agency. You can request a job that is temp to perm. I worked for the temp co for 3 months, and then go hired, and worked there 4 and a half years. I did not have ANY experience, but gave it a try, and learned A TON!

I DID it for a while years ago, I worked some short term jobs, left of I didnt like them, and was offered two full time jobs that were originally temp...The pay is decent, but depends on the industry. It is worth a try, they will work hard for ya!

I have been temping on a off for years.
I am registered with a few.
The agencies are good, but they haven't had too much lately out in eastern Suffolk County. A few things come up in Melville and more in Westbury and Garden City.

I used to work for temp agencies (like Manpower) during the summers when I was in college. The pay is usually pretty good depending on skill level. Some agencies offer optional health insurance if you on a long assignment (at least 3 months). Definitely worth checking out.

I usually work in the summers with Spherion at the Bear STearns offices in Manhattan. One summer I was working for a girl out on disability and earned $20. an hour to do her admin work. They offered her job to me at the end of the summer (but I went back to teach).

It definitely has its pros/cons. It's hard stepping in & doing someone else's job usually w/o a lot of "training." Also the short assignments are hard b/c no one really wants to help you. If you can get an assignment that is long term though, it can be great. You learn so much and the pay is good.

I'd definitely look into it.
