Re: Love at First Sight
Tough call. I think it depends on the person that experiences the feeling. If it's somebody that's desperate to find somebody, it may be delusional, because they want to find the right person so badly. If it's somebody that's not really looking, or is looking, but isn't desperate, I think it can be a reality. I experienced love at first sight with my DH. I was with another guy at the time, so natually I wasn't even looking and then I made eye contact with DH and the feeling I had was overwhelming. I believe that it can be a reality depending on the person that feels it.

It hasnt ever happened to me personally but it could be a possibility for people who are really into touch with their subconscious or something.

Re: Love at First Sight
DH and I always like to say it was "love at first sight" (hey, we got engaged after 3 months of dating!) But the truth is, I think we were in love at first sight with the IDEA of each other. You kow, the idealized image you have of the other person at the beginning. How could we have really known if it was love? We were just really, really lucky that as the months turned into years and we got to know the "reality" of each other, we loved that just as much.

YES. But I trusted my instincts when I met JT. I just knew that he was going to be the one, but it sure as hell wasn't LOVE. Just intuition

Re: Love at First Sight
I don't believe in love at first sight. I think love comes a while after meeting someone. I think you need to know a person to really love them. You can like or lust them but love is special.

Re: Love at First Sight
I don't necessarily think it's "love" at first sight, but maybe intuition? I never believed in that stuff, until I had my first date with DH. I opened the door, walked into the coffee shop, took one look at him, and just "knew"... according to Dh, it was the same for him. I was the kind of person who always, ALWAYS said I would never get married. Yet, after our second date, I told all of my closest friends I would marry him, and one year later, I did. Was it LOVE at first sight? I can't say, but it was definitely something...

Re: Love at First Sight
I think it depends. Love can mean SO many things. When I was 15 I was in LOVE with my bf. I really did love him. Does it even come close to how I love my FH? of course not, but for me, at the time it was love.
So maybe you can have love at first sight, but it's a different kind of love than what develops over time. I think we need more words for love because it can mean SO many things.
FH says he loved me at first sight. I don't even remember meeting him the time he said he saw me on the escalator at school and KNEW. We didn't date until SO long after that and I had no interest in him until I really got to know him. I've experienced love in various capacities several times, but never love at first sight... my experience tells me, no, love comes with time..but..I don't know there are so many different kids, levels and aspects of love, who knows?

Re: Love at First Sight
i dont believe you can literally fall in love with someone at first sight, BUT i do believe you can have some sort of a magical connection and KNOW you will eventually be with this person.

Re: Love at First Sight
Well, I think it depends on the situation. I believe a real, deep, connection has to develop over time. However: I met FH online, and we talked and emailed eachother for two months before we ever saw each other. We never posted a pic, or anything. When we finally met for the first time, I knew it was him without a doubt, and I knew I was in love. He says it was exactly the same for him. The love that has developed since then has grown much deeper, but it was definitely there at first sight.
