Total cost
How do you calculate the total reception cost from the price per person? Do you add the tax then calculate the 18% tip then multiply by the # of guests. Then you add in the maitre d tip. Just trying to get a round about cost of the reception. Thanks ladies!

Re: Total cost
Well you don't tip for tax so first I would find out if your hall taxes on top of the gratuity, which many due. In which case it would go like this:
#of guests x Price PP = base reception cost
Base reception cost x 1.18 = Subtotal
Subtotal x 1.0875 = Total Reception Cost
Total Reception Cost + Maitre 'd Tip

Re: Total cost
Multiple the cost per head, times the gratuity and then multiple that by that tax.
So, say you got a rate of $100 per head and the gratuity is 18%. That's $118 times the tax (.0875).
So, that would be $128.33 per head.
Then you multiple that times the number of guests and add your tips.

Re: Total cost
Easiest way..
Take the price per person and multiply by 126.75%. That will give you the total cost.
26.75% = 8.75% tax + 18% gratuity.
Matre D is usually $2-$3 per person.
I hope this helps.

Re: Total cost
we were lucky our BM figured it all out for us when we went there. We're paying like $79/person and with all the taxes and gratuities it came out to $96. We just have to multiply that by however many people we end up having. Other than that i'm not really sure how the taxes and gratuity get multiplied by the price per person. Sorry.
