NWR: For those who want to donate blood for CJ

I did find out today that to specifically donate for CJ the cost is $135. And if he receives too many donations, they throw out the unused blood. If anyone can just go and donate at the center near Schneider's, at least they will have a healthy supply on hand! And then they will screen for CMV free blood.

Ok - so we should just go and give a regular donation then? That seems silly that they get rid of the extra blood - why dont they just put it back in the bank? Must be something I'm mssing

The blood only stays fresh for a certain period of time. They can only hold it for so long. If people are calling to specifically donate their blood for CJ and it is not used in time, it will be wasted.
So I figure if anyone who wants to donate over the next few weeks just does a regular blood donation, then they will have a healthy supply and the added bonus is they still have to check for CMV free blood without the fee of $135.
