what do you need to have set up before the baby comes
since the fire and all- we are living in our temporary apartment and will be here when the baby comes Anyway, what should I have ready for when the baby comes home from the hospital- I only want Dh to put together the necessary things because its going to have to be moved anyway eventually.
I know I need the bassinet- anything else, will will probably be moving back home when the baby is a few weeks old or at most 2 months old.

I am sorry to hear you had a fire. Thats terrible, I hope everyone is okay.
I would say you need the bassinet, a changing table, maybe a swing or a bouncey seat. Thats all I really used and in the begining I think they are to small for the swing and bouncey seat in the very begining. I used my car seat/stroller a lot.

First born all you need is the bassinet. I didn't have a changing table at first I used to change him on our bed. It didn't really bother me. By the 1 month mark we were putting him in his bouncy seat ( for the vibration part) and the swing.

Re: what do you need to have set up before the baby comes
If you have to choose between the bouncy seat and the swing, we used the bouncy seat from the first day we brought her home. she had her days and nights mixed up and the dr reco'd using it to lull her to sleep at night. The swing used to go really fast for the first month, I think she was too light, she was 7 lbs 8 oz when she was born.

Re: what do you need to have set up before the baby comes
I think you need the bassinet/crib - wherever you want the baby to sleep and the infant car seat installed. For me the boppy and the bouncer seat were most used in the early days as well. I didn't use the changing table the first few weeks. My baby woke up every three hours to eat and was sleeping in my bedroom in a bassinet so it was much easier to change him in on the bed.

I had the bassinet the changing table and the swing set up.
thats what I used most of the time. She loved the swing and would sleep in that better then h er bassinet.
