NWR - Real Estate Lawyer (repost from BHB)
Hi, girls! My fiance and I need to hire a real estate lawyer because we are selling his place, but we're not sure whether the quotes we have been getting are reasonable or not. We got a quote for $825 from a lawyer who doesn't get involved until after the contract is signed, and then she'll take care of the rest, including the closing. Is this reasonable? Does it make sense for a lawyer not to get involved until after the contract is signed?
Thank you!

Hmm you think they would want to look over the contract. Ours cost $1000 acting for buyer or seller, but looked over the contract prior to us signing.

A LOT of problems can arise before the contract is signed, i.e. with the disclosure statement, the agreement of sale, lien issues, etc. $825 is cheap, but it's better to get someone who is involved in the whole process... (I'm an attorney and on occasion I do real estate closings - in PA - and I can tell you the closing is the cake. It's everything else that matters).
