Contract/Closing Costs ((Mortgage Fees))
I heard that when purchasing a house you will incur all these unexpected fees. I don't want to be totally surprised. Which fees (bank fees closing fees etc) can you NOT avoid? Which fees are avoidable and should we not pay for?
With all this house hunting drama - when we finally do get a house - I want to make sure I'm ready for the future expenses.
Thanks!

Re: Contract/Closing Costs ((Mortgage Fees))
Fees you can avoid.
Any document preparation fees (total BS fees) Don't be foolish and pay for this crap. - Why do you think you get charged an application fee? But see below about that.
Any document delivery fees (same as above - come on).
Credit Check Fees (again... this should be included in the application fee - try to get this taken off)
Application fees - Yes if you push hard enough... you can even get this waived (not easy though). I've done it with the right bank.
Fees you cannot avoid.
Any county tax stamps
Bank's attorney/lawyer fees
Appraisal
Title Fees
If I think of more fees you can avoid... i'll post them. Just get a good faith estimate from your lender and you won't get hit with anything "hidden". It will all be right there in black and white for you.
