Re: need baby shower help- wishing well library...

I had a book well/ wishing well at my shower. My invite just said ," book well and wishing well". I did receive some special books that'll I'll always treasure with my daughter.

Re: need baby shower help- wishing well library...

These are a couple I had found when I was planning my sisters shower. The first is for the wishing well and the others are more for bringing a book instead of a card.

Hope this helps!

*************************************
Place a book inside this well,
And make a wish -- you must not tell!
Knowing her baby will someday read,
Mommy thanks you for your kind deed.
This is better than dropping a dollar,
For you are helping to make a scholar!"

*************************************
As (Mother to be's name) due date is coming near,
We're inviting friends and family dear.
To choose a favorite story or fairy tale
That you would like Baby ________ to hear.
Instead of a card, please let (mother to be's name) look,
At your special choice of a book,
and then to Baby __________ she will read
With all the love a newborn will need.
So with a personal touch, please choose a book
And in it then your name do put.
It need not cost more than a card
Just pick a favorite, it shouldn't be hard.

**************************************
I want to be a bright child
As smart as I can be.
That is why I'm hoping
My mom will read to me.
If you plan to bring a card
Please take another look,
I would like to learn my ABC's
From your favorite storybook.
Please sign your name
As your personal touch.
Baby (last name) thanks you
Beary, beary much.
Or, replace the last paragraph with the following:
Please add your name and a note
Then I'll know you've done your part.
Some day I'll surely thank you
From the bottom of my heart.

**************************************
Although cards are nice
They're read once or twice
Maybe three or four times at best
A book is a treasure
Forever and Forever
So instead of a card
To be put aside
Please give the little baby
A book with your name inside
It will be read to our little tyke
Before bed each night
And we will thank you
Forever and forever!

For those that have done this - have you rec'd duplicate books? My mother wants to do this for my shower but she was thinking that I'd get alot of duplicates. Any ideas?

Re: need baby shower help- wishing well library...

This was done for my shower and I did not receive even one duplicate. They were all different and everyone had different ideas what to bring - I received classics (Little Golden Books), a Christmas book, books to use in the tub, Goodnight Moon, first counting and first ABC books. I think it's a great idea and we are putting up a shelf in the nursery for the books.

Re: need baby shower help- wishing well library...

I went to a book shower and was given a letter of the alphabet on the invitation to buy a book that begins with that letter (ie "G" Guess how much I love you). This way there were no duplicates since everyone had different letters.
