Easy Poll: Which side of the bed to you sleep on?
Facing the bed from where your feet are (so i guess the bottom)
im on the left side... always have, always will be....i wonder why...

I sleep on the left currently, I sleep on which ever side is furthest away from the door. In my first apartment, I wasn't sleeping at night, so DH moved my bed against the wall and he slept on the outside, that way if anyone breaks in, I will hear DH struggle with the bad guy giving me a chance to run.  We laugh about it now, but I was only 18. So then when we moved, I told DH I don't care what side I sleep on, he says he likes the job of protector, so he is closest to the door.

DH & I and our friends call it the drivers side or passengaer side.
If you are laying next to each other (head at top of bed, feet at bottom of the bed), which side are you on. I am to the left of DH, so I'm on the driver side!

I'm a rightie so I have to be on the right side. DH is a leftie so he's on the left...so I guess it all worked out. I have to be on the right...But DH is all over the place. we have a queen sized matress with plenty of room cuz we are not big people but he when turns and stuff he always goes diagonally and shifts more towards my side. Sometimes I am literally on the edge of the bed. Sometimes I feel like he is going to push me off...LOL

When I had to work in the city I slept 'towards the wall' because Jim got up first. As unemployed I slept 'open side' since I took him to work.

I sleep driver's side too, but Mr Boots gets all pissy because he claims I do "the creep" and slink into his sleeping space during the night. I said it's because he's heavier than me and I just naturally roll into his divot.
He got even pissier when I called the depression he makes a "divot".

When you look at the bed, I'm on the right (the left when you're actually IN the bed). However, I think I prefer to be on whatever side of the bed thats furthest from the door - I'm weird like that!

I used to be in a twin at my parents' house. I would view your "side of the bed" in a twin to what side of your twin is open (not against the wall) unless your twin doesn't go against a wall. The left side of my twin was against a wall, thus I sleep on the right side of the bed now with DH.

Right. Both my mom and my sister also sleep on the right, which is closest to the door, and I have a theory that women are socialized to sleep closer to the door b/c when babies wake up crying they can get to them faster.

hahha i sleep furtherest from the door. one night for the heck of it, we switched and wound up both needing to switch back to the original the next night! Haha we're creatures of habits---lol
although, when DH lived in our apt for 5 months alone he had the entire bed to himself, it's taken a little adjustment and a few accidental elbows in my head hahaha

That's interesting! My side is closest the door, but I wanted it because it gets more light through the doorway, and DH's side is very dark. Since he gets up like 10 times to pee a night he should really have that side though.

I sleep on the left, however, I generally like the side furthest from the door (same thought as you Janice , I also have a thing though if there is a window/sliding glass door, I have to be closest to that. Weird, I know.

I am on the left and my theory is nutty
he is on the right- the side closest to the door- i have always been worried that if someone came in the room- to rob us he would be closest to them and be able to protect me.. i know it is stupid we are like inches away

I always slept on the right side, but once my FI and I moved in together, he somehow wound up with that side!!! Its been almost a year that I have been sleeping on the left and I HATE it, as soon as he gets out of bed, I am all over his side!!! He refuses to switch with me!!
