We went about 2 weeks ago. It was really easy (during the day around noon), nobody was there (Town Hall in Hempstead) and we were in and out. Funny stories....FH pretended to run out of the room and said "I can't do this" when we walked in.

I don't know when we're going. I'd like to maybe go next tuesday 4/19...but we'll see what our schedules are like. It's tough having to do it durning the day and FH works every single day.

We went this morning and got it. Lots of cute couples all around.
They wouldn't let me make my name like Hillary Rodham Clinton's, though. 
"Hillary Rodham Clinton didn't get married in New York," was what the clerk said.
At least my middle name has the same first letter as my current last name, so maybe the "M" can have new meaning.

I am in a mini panic about this. Does anyone know if they let you do this on a WEEKEND!?? What are out of town brides supposed to do!!?
ETA: Can you believe I have not panicked about this until now!?? We are not going to be able to get our marriage licesnse until the next weekday we are down on LI, which won't be until the Thursday before our Saturday wedding!!! ACCCCCKKK!!

No weekend hours in the 5 boroughs, and they close at something ike 3:45 pm on weekdays.
There's also a 24 hour waiting period from when the license is issued to you, so don't go too late on Friday. Also, you may need to pay with a money order -- be sure to check with the office you're going to.

I think Huntington Town Hall's clerk's office is open in the evening on Fridays, which is sort of like the weekend. You might give them a call.

FH & I got our marriage license yesterday, made our wedding feel so official
Funny story, I went to high school with the clerk who processed our license. She was sweet and excited for us!
One more thing off the check list! Yesterday was 3 weeks till our big day

I got mine at lunch about 2 weeks ago in Manhattan. It was so easy and fast. It made everything feel so much more official and I was so excited seeing all the brides that were getting married at city hall that day all dressed up with flowers and family around. It also made me nervous looking around and realizing that everyone in that room is going to get married within 60 days including me!

We got ours on Friday!! When the clerk saw FH's birth certificate, she said "Uh oh" and my heart nearly dropped. She said his certificate wasn't the legal copy! His certifcate was issued by the hospital he was born in and she said that hospital certificates don't count as the official copy. 
We had driven up from Maryland and that is the only copy FH said he ever had. I was so worried we weren't getting our license, but FH had a military ID on him and she took that plus his license and gave us our license. PHEW!
That's us posing outside Town Hall after we got it. 
Some advice: bring extra photo IDs like passports and such just in case you run into any problems!

we went last night to get our marriage license (Islip Town Hall is open until 730pm on Tuesdays).
It took all of 10 minutes :)
FH asked when we were leaving if this means we're married. hehee Almost!
