Spinoff on Bridal Shop closing
The best advice I've heard so far!!
Put all purchases of $50 or more (especially your wedding gown!) on your credit card if you have one. There is a federal law called Federal Regulation C that entitles consumers to receive refunds if the merchandise is not delivered/delivered but doesnt live up to what's promised/ problems with the quality of goods and services etc. - it protects all deposits and payments but does not protect debit cards or cash advanced check options.
You have to prove that you tried in good faith to correct the problem with the merchant - in the case of a closing bridal shop you need to send a written statement and copy of your deposit receipt!!
Just something to keep inmind and remind everyone to save copies of all recipts and contracts its your best protection plan!

Re: Spinoff on Bridal Shop closing
Very true, when I can, I make all large purchases on my credit card - wedding related and non wedding related. It's much easier to dispute!

Re: Spinoff on Bridal Shop closing
You should also post that on the BHB board...there is someone on there who got their dress at the bridal shop that just closed and she was unsure of what to do.....

Re: Spinoff on Bridal Shop closing
I charged my first bedroom set when I moved out of my parent's house on my credit card and it was delivered completely broken! I disputed the purchase with the store (which is sadly still in business... FM me if you planning to buy furniture near Roosevelt Field) and was told by the store that I wouldn't get my money back. It took a couple of months, but I didn't have to pay for anything. Great advice!!
