First Year Question

So how was/how is the first year going? Is it what you expected? Has it been harder/easier than you thought it would be?

Re: First Year Question

Well, it's a little over 6 months and I am surprised at how well it is going. It was a bit of an adjustment for me at first because I went from living on my own to sharing a house. Other then that, things have been really smooth and easy.

Re: First Year Question

We didn't live together before the wedding, so the first maybe 3 months were really difficult. We were figuring out who does what around the house, who cooks when, do we shop together, etc. But the last couple months have been great--I feel like we have really gotten into the swing of things, and have our routine which makes it so much easier. It's no longer a discussion of who does what, etc.

Re: First Year Question

We've been married 3 months and it has been a big adjustment. We didn't live together beforehand so it's taken some time to adjust to chores and duties and all that stuff. but I love being married and all the bumps along the way are what makes it interesting.

Re: First Year Question

We are coming up on 6 months and we have been living together for a year and a few months. It's been going really well, easier than I'd expected.

I was anxious because we'd both been living by ourselves for a long time (7 years in my case, 4 for him) and the idea of negotiating chores and stuff was stressful. And I know it's not the same but I always had a terrible time with roommates (and I often blamed myself). So I have been pleasantly surprised.

Re: First Year Question

next month will be 1 year for us, and for the most part, things have gone well. It took a lot of getting used to living with him (we didn't live together before we got married). I really didn't think it was going to be THAT hard. It also took a little while to finally get down who was going to do what around the house-DH was used to not having to do anything arounf the house.

Other than that, things have been great!

Re: First Year Question

DH and I lived together b/4 we got married but I have to say this has been a rough year for us. I don't know why but this is a big adj for me. Hopefully year 2 will be much better.

Re: First Year Question

It will be a year for us on Sunday, and I have to say that we did live together before we were married, so nothing much has changed - except that we added a joint account in the mix.

Re: First Year Question

We were living together for over a year before we got married, so really nothing changed... if anyting, things got BETTER because we finally felt 'settled' and truly content, as if the last piece of the puzzle had finally been filled (if that makes any sense)

I have to say that despite everyone saying the 1st year is the hardest, I have found it to be the complete opposite.. its been great

Re: First Year Question

First year is going very well. The only big stress is trying to buy a house. The baby on the way is an added bonus. We always wanted our family early so we are happily awaiting the little one on our one year anniversary so that will be neat. All is going well.

Re: First Year Question

We had a long distance relationship for most of our "courtship". Except for vacations, we never spent more than a couple of days together. So, the first few months for us were VERY difficult. Things are much better now. We really are enjoying it!

Re: First Year Question

We lived together for a few years before marriage so everything has been smooth so far which is what I hoped for.

Totally makes sense and it's been the same way for us. We even threw a baby into the mix We'll be married a year in 3 more weeks!

Re: First Year Question

It will be 3 months soon and things have been going great. We've both never lived on our own before, so that's taken a lot of getting used to, but other than that, there haven't been any problems.

Re: First Year Question

No problems at all - I'm a little scared that it's been so easy, actually...
but that's how our relationship has always been. Before Tom, I couldn't stand anyoen after 3 months....and I would end the relationship.

Re: First Year Question

So much easier than I expected. We did not live together beforehand, and we had never had a big fight, so I was worried that we would argue while adjusting. But everything has been great!!!
