Trying to lose weight for the wedding?
I don't know how this works, but my boss and his wife did it and I can say I personally see the results and they are dramatic. If you have the willpower to do this, it is guaranteed to work. Their doctor recommended it. Here it is!
THE ACCUWEIGHT DIET
I don’t know exactly how or why this particular eating plan/diet works except that I refer to it as the “Miracle Diet”. Apparently it resets your body’s internal “set-point” so that your body feels comfortable at its new lower weight instead of fighting to return to a higher weight.
Believe me, I tried all the Atkins, Sugarbusters, South Beach, etc. and while they do work for awhile, I never really lost significant weight or size, and what I did lose popped right back. Also, I find this plan very easy to live with on an ongoing basis. I do not consider the maintenance plan a diet, but a new eating lifestyle change that works!
There are three phases:
(1) Induction
(2) Weight Loss Continuation – Phase 2
(3) General Maintenance
INDUCTION:
This is the critical phase and you CANNOT CHEAT during this phase, or don’t bother. The amount of time you spend in the induction phase depends on each individual and how much weight you want/need to lose. I wanted to lose about 15-20 lbs and stayed on the initial induction phase for about 8 days and then went to the next phase, where I continued to lose weight and size until my body got to a weight that I hadn’t seen in over 20 years, but now have no problem maintaining! I call it my age 30 weight!
The basic rules on the induction phase are as follows:
• You can only eat between Noon and 6pm. • Days 1 & 2 are “Milk Days” • Days 3 & 4 are “Fruit/Veggie Days”
Every 2 days, alternate between Milk Days and Fruit/Veggie Days, but you have to begin this plan with 2 Milk Days.
Days 1 & 2: Milk/Dairy – a total of 22-32oz of either:
(1) Whole Milk (can be Lactaid) either plain milk, or you can blend milk with sugar-free sweetener, flavorings, ice cubes, etc. to create a type of milkshake; OR
(2) Yogurt….however, it can only be one type of yogurt: Stonyfield Organic Whole Milk Plain Yogurt with cream on top -- no substitutes. You can find this yogurt in most any major grocery store like Stop N Shop, King Kullen, etc. It only comes in the large container and if you are a yogurt lover, you can eat one container per day. (Mix the cream layer into the yogurt). If you’ve spent years eating fat-free or lowfat yogurt, this will be a rich treat!
You may ONLY eat between Noon and 6pm.
Prior to Noon and after 6, you may have as much water, black coffee with artificial sweetener (preferably Splenda), tea (hot or cold), diet soda ….plus there is no restriction on caffeine. Note: After Noon you can have whole milk in your coffee (no skim milk and no cream or half-and-half)!
You can add any kind of sugar free sweetener to the yogurt including sugar-free flavor syrups, Splenda, etc. You can also put the yogurt in a blender and add sugar-free jello (either the powder or already gelled) in a blender to make a yogurt “smoothie” shake.
Or – if you don’t care for yogurt all the time, you can make milkshakes in the blender from whole milk, splenda, sugar-free flavoring syrup, and ice cubes. You can also use coffee powder to flavor or unsweetened cocoa plus Splenda to make a chocolate shake.
REMEMBER – the TOTAL amount of Milk and/or Yogurt can only between 22-32 oz and must be eaten only between Noon and 6pm.
You can use certain acupressure points to help alleviate feelings of hunger (call me and I’ll explain).
DAYS 3 & 4: FRUITS/VEGGIE days – up to 3 lbs of fruits and/or veggies
On days 3 & 4 you can eat up to a total of (approximately) 3 lbs of fruits and vegetables. Again, you can only eat between Noon and 6pm. I never measured exactly, and you can estimate the total weight. You may have ANY fruit and almost any veggies… no starchy vegetables – no corn, beans of any kind, peas, potatoes, etc. Absolutely no sugar and no starch such as rice, bread, pasta. No cheese or meat of any kind….. However, you can have high fat content veggies like avocado (I made guacamole with avacado, chopped tomatoes, lemon juice, salt & pepper and tossed that into a salad as a kind of dressing).
Here are a few other no-no’s on the fruit/veggie days: • No Oil or fats (other than you can use a little bit of spray olive oil or Pam to grill vegetables) • No vinegar of any kind, including Balsamic (you will be allowed Balsamic vinegar in Phase 2) • No Alcohol (sorry – you can add wine in phase 2) • No dried fruit • No nuts
For dinner, you can have grilled veggies such as Portabella mushrooms, zucchini, eggplant, red/green peppers, onions, etc.. You are allowed Pam – you can spray the veggies before broiling or grilling, then use a lot of salt & pepper and other seasonings. There is no restriction on seasonings. You can put the grilled veggies on top of a salad…..
Lunch can be fruits, or a salad with either lemon juice as dressing or if that doesn’t appeal to you (I actually found it wasn’t bad if you add salt & pepper, too), you can make a great salad dressing by using either tomato juice or V-8 juice as a base, and then add a Good Seasons Italian dressing packet or your own seasonings….
During this phase which is clearly the most difficult, we mainly had a big salad and/or some fruit for lunch – a piece of fruit for a snack (bananas, grapes, apples – they are all ok!) and then had grilled vegetables for dinner.
Keep alternating 2 “Milk Days” with 2 “Fruit/Veggie Days” for up to 14 days….see how you feel and see how quickly you start to drop the weight!
PHASE 2 – Weight Loss Continuation
During Phase 2, you will eat more normally, and will continue losing weight.
During Phase 2 you still NEVER eat before Noon (well, 11:30 if you’re desperate!) You still cannot eat any starch or sugar such as potatoes, rice, pasta, desserts, etc.
• Now you are allowed to eat later than 6pm, but you DON’T EAT ANYTHING WITHIN 2 HOURS OF GOING TO BED!!!!!! However, prior to bedtime, you can still have water, black coffee, tea, diet soda, just as before Noon. During Phase 2 you can actually eat out at night – just be careful what you order.
• You are now allowed a modest portion of either fish or chicken breast at dinnertime. NO red meat or veal yet.
• You can now have vinegar on your salads, but ONLY balsamic vinegar (not regular) and still NO OIL!!!!! Only the spray olive oil or Pam for cooking.
• You can have a glass of wine with dinner several nights per week
• 2 days a week (they don’t have to be consecutive) you go back to a Milk/Yogurt day as you did in the Induction Phase – (eating only between Noon and 6pm).
• No starchy veggies such as peas, corn or beans.
• During this phase fruit is limited to 1 per day, as a snack in between lunch & dinner….not nearly as much fruit as you were allowed in the induction phase.
• You can now have eggs and a small amount of cheese, so if you wanted to have a cheese omelette for lunch or dinner – it’s ok
Continue with Phase 2 until you have lost the weight/size that you want.
PHASE 3 – Maintenance Forever
Now that you’ve lost what you want, you basically continue on “Permanent Maintenance”. The main difference between Phase 2 and Permanent Maintenance, is that now you only use a “Milk/Yogurt” day(s) occasionally if you “fall off the wagon” and need get back on track. You can also do a few fruit/veggie days if that is easier.
Here are the absolutes in order to maintain what you’ve lost:
• Never eat before Noon (11:00 at the earliest) and Never eat 2 hours before bedtime. (It sounds harder than it is.) I now have coffee with a little whole milk in the morning and wait until noon for my first meal. I keep my lunches as light as possible – salad or fruit….but we do eat out almost every night and generally stick with low fat, low carb choices such as chicken, fish, lean veal etc.
• “Bad” CARBS such as rice, potatoes, pasta, pizza, sugar-desserts, bread, cookies, candy, cake, etc. are only allowed in small portions, and on an occasional basis. Once you’ve lost all the weight you want, you can eat most anything you want, as long as it is in small portions. Obviously, for those things that are clearly “evil” and fattening (cookies, candy, cake, mashed potatoes, heavy sauces, etc.) that you may really crave, you are allowed to have it, but only in small quantities and ONLY occasionally as a treat. Try to eat these types of foods in a very controlled and deliberate manner.
• OIL/FAT – as little as possible and then only in very small quantities. Try to use only Balsamic Vinegar rather than regular vinegar.
• Red meat is allowed occasionally and of course, the leaner the better.
• Cheese, only in modest quantity and not every day.
In short, the lifetime maintenance plan is generally a healthy low carb, low fat regimen with selected and controlled “cheats” for the things you really crave….. The critical difference between this regimen and other plans is that you may never eat before noon and never within 2 hours of bedtime.
Believe me, this plan really works. I have friends who struggled for many years with serious weight problems and are now svelte beauties with healthier outlooks. Men have great success on this diet, too.
GOOD LUCK!
