Ladies...what are your opinions on this?

I was talking to 2 women at work the other day about make-up and getting my hair done the day of my wedding. One was telling me about airbrush makeup since she had it done for her wedding.
Anyway, I was telling them that I want to have it all done at my home my make-up and my hair so I don't have to worry about going out that morning. Well they brought up a point that maybe by leaving for a while you don't have to deal with your chaotic house. Since everyone will be stressing and running around. Maybe it would do me some good to get out. Then return and get ready for the photographer and videographer. I have been thinking about what they said. What do you ladies think? I want your opinions???

Re: Ladies...what are your opinions on this?

Not a bad idea...plus probably cheaper.

I plan on most likely going out to get hair & makeup- I am low maintenance and anything is an improvement on my poor makeup skills anyway

Re: Ladies...what are your opinions on this?

I plan on leaving for a little while myself, I know a lot of my aunts plan on coming over to see me get ready and I really don't want to get all caught up in the chaos that I know they will cause. I wish I could just tell them that I'll see them at the ceremony or the reception, but then I'll be offending them and I really don't need any more tension that day.

I dont know, I like the idea of staying home and having someone come to me and maybe be in a room where no can bother you. At a salon you have to wait for your turn even if you have an appointment. I think its less stressful at home.
Thats just my opinion.

I agree with chmerc. Your photographer and videographer will also be able to capture some of the getting ready pictures as well if you have your makeup and hair done at home.

Re: Ladies...what are your opinions on this?

my FSIL gave me the same advice...I was going to originally have my hair & makeup done at home...She said it really makes a difference to leave the house that morning & get out...It is going to be crazy at home & you need to step out for a bit...

She had her BM's with her & I am hoping to have the same

It all deends on who is going to be at home. For ym sister's wedding, everyne who was at home was getting their hair and makeup done so while we did go to the salon (it's 2 blocks away) it really wasn't to get out. it may be good though..it's up to you

Re: Ladies...what are your opinions on this?

I like the idea of staying home and having a vendor come to you ---- but I would also stay at home for a pretty rare (slightly morbid, extremely pessimistic) reason -

A former co-worker of mine chose to have her hair done at a salon the day of. This was about 3 years ago--- Well someone rear-ended her on her way home, and her airbag deployed. It ruined her hair, and left bruises and burn marks all over her face. When she finally got back to her house hours later, no one knew where she had been, because she had no cell phone with her (she was nervous that morning and forgot it) and no one knew which salon she was going to.

The makeup artist couldn't wait any longer and left the house to go do another wedding, so by the time the bride got back, she had less than an hour to fix her face and get ready for the church.

Her sister ended up doing her makeup and she ended up wearing her hair all down without a veil because it was ruined from the airbag powder. She was very very very upset on her wedding day.

I'm not saying this happens to everyone, but it IS a possibility.

My hairdresser's salon is in the city so I will be going to her that morning. I am also having the make-up artist meet me at the hair salon.

Re: Ladies...what are your opinions on this?

I had my hair done at the salon and my makeup done at my house with my bridesmaids and my mom. We popped open Champagne and ate bagels. It was one of my most favorite memories about that day.

So I had the alone time and the not alone time.

I'm all about staying home. Its more convienant, and what if the salon is running behind. Plus, if you are having your bridesmaids get their hair done, then the caos is going with you too

I plan on going to get my hair done, it's only a few blocks away, and having the make-up artist come to me. I get to get out of the house as well as get pampered at home a bit.

Have it done out. It will be such a long day that you will be glad you have the time away to pamper yourself before the madness begins.

I am probably getting ready at a hotel, but I definitely want to have someone come to me. I don't want to have to drive around that morning.

Re: Ladies...what are your opinions on this?

My sister lives around the block from my mom's house, so we are planning to have the makeup and hair done their. I wanted to have it at home, but thought it might be to many people in one spot. So we are splitting it this way.

Re: Ladies...what are your opinions on this?

I am torn as well. Since I have a huge BP, we'll probably venture out. I have been going to the same salon for years, and when my MOH got married (we use the same place), they opened early for us to be sure we had enough time. They bought us champagne and bagels, and we just hung out and waited while we all got our make up and hair done (or did haha). They already offered to do the same for me. Kinda of the best of both worlds. If you have know and trust your salon, they may do the same for all that business.

The idea of staying home is also nice - hang out with your BMs and mom in your PJs before the big event, and the photographer can capture every moment! For me, w/ 12 BMs (yes, 12) we'll be best suited for a salon -enough hair dryers, chairs, curling irons and HELP to go around. DECISIONS!!

Re: Ladies...what are your opinions on this?

I think that it makes a lto of sense. I think that I am going to get hair and make-up done at teh hair stylists place, and then go home to get dressed. It will get me moving and not sitting around so much....my best friend did that and it was so nice to go out and get some air and walk and talk and hang out..outside of the house.
