Thinking of changing my date *UPDATED*

I am thinking of changing my date.... the reasons that I chose a July date are no longer valid, and now the date might actually be conflicting... Does anyone know how May/June rates compare to July?

ETA:
So I went to Westbury manor today, andthey told me the rates are the same.. What do you girls think of May 28th? Thats the sunday of Memorial Day weekend. I think its nice people won't have to worry about work on Monday. My mom is worried that people will be ticked off they can't plan vacations for that weekend.

Re: Thinking of changing my date

I think they are pretty much the same. Im just taking what was quoted to me from 3 different places and between June-August they were the same unless it was a Fri/Sat nite difference.

Yea I agree the difference would only be fri or sat night. I think the prices are the same for those months.

Edited for spelling.

Re: Thinking of changing my date

I went with the first week in May because at my hall, the "high season" rates go into effect after Mother's Day. We're the week before, and we're saving about $25/head.

I know at the Westbury Manor, the rates go up to "prime" the first weekend of May, which they quoted me at being about $110 for Sat. nite.

Re: Thinking of changing my date

I think it might depend on the hall...one place we looked at peakseason started in April the others started in May, so it might be the same.

Re: Thinking of changing my date

I wanted Fri night on Memorial day Wkend and found the prices were crazy. When I found the hall I loved I changed the date to last weekend in April and saved $50 p/p. WOW! that was great!
She said May, June, and July are hot months, anytime in May, even the first and second weekends. So April it is.
Good Luck!

I think May would be the same price as June or July. It all depends on the hall.

Re: Thinking of changing my date

one hall i called in the city has the same price for every single day of one month... meaning... a monday wedding is the same price as a saturday wedding of the same month. in the case of that hall, the entire month of july was cheaper than june.

I think it's a terrific date! And my out of town guests prefer to have the Monday off! Just send out save the dates way ahead of time! We are sending them out in July!

Re: Thinking of changing my date *UPDATED*

personally I wouldn't do a holiday weekend. People usually get annoyed that they have to give up there whole weekend for a wedding.

But that's just my opinion.

I think OOT guests would appreciate having a wedding on a weekend. I wouldn't mind going to a wedding during Memorial Day weekend. I never do anything that weekend anyway.

Re: Thinking of changing my date *UPDATED*

Ok, keep in mind I'm biased because I'm getting married the Sunday of 4th of July weekend, but I think holiday weekend weddings are nice. For us, more than half our guests are out of towners and this gives them a lot of travel time, they won't have to take off of work, and we're planning lots of activites - dinners, brunches, etc. There's always going to be a weekend that doesn't work for people. Pick the weekend you want, and don't worry, everyone will be there!

we originally wanted the sunday or 4th of july and every place was booked already
east wind was booked for the estate (the room i wanted) BUT had northhampton /southhapton open- I really wanted estate- and we barely saving any money if we had it the sunday..it was minimal...

My parents said the same thing when I wanted to have it 4th of july weekend, and originally had July 2 booked, but a few of my family members made comments about not being able to go away that weekend now, I ended up making it a week later, making alot more people happy... I know everyone said that you should what makes you happy, but the last thing you want is unhappy guests..i dont know just my opinion

Re: Thinking of changing my date *UPDATED*

i think if its the same price go for it. i'm sure everyone will know about your wedding well in advance and we make their plans accordingly. and honestly, if you had to wait for a day that was good for EVERYONE, you'd never get married. think of you and fh first and let whoever is going to whine about it, whine about it. good luck with whatever you choose.
