OK so I have a cold sore...
MY lip is killing me and I look like I got punched in the mouth... I need hugs!!!

I know just how you feel. I had one too last year right above my lip and under my nose. I used to cry about it sometimes cuz it just seemed like it would never go away. I had it for like 2 weeks. And we were on vacation with DH's family during one of those weeks. It was awful I didn't feel like being in any pictures. I just wanted to hide in my hotel room...

Hopefully yours will be gone by monday and not linger for 3 weeks like mine did. I forgot what ointment I used for it. I remember posting about it and people giving suggestions on which creams they used. It started with an A but darn I can't remember the rest.
It's horrible to have a cold sore. I had never gotten one ever and I wasn't in any stress.

I actually get them a lot so I have Denevir which is a prescription creme. I can't wait to go home and put some on. I'm trying to hide it with lipstick but it's making it worse

Keep it moist but not by lipstick. It will bring it out more.
I get them all the time..just had a mini one the other day. So to you because I do feel your pain. They are annoying!
If you get them so often..try having your doc prescribe Valtrex. Its a pill and the instant you feel that sucker coming on, u take one and I swear it will go away and not come out. It also helps in healing them quicker than Denavir.
Even applying ice on it right away can stop it from coming out.
Just another piece of advice that I am unfortunately horrible at doing myself....Lysine vitamin every day. It is suppose to keep them away. That is why we get them. Lack of.
Anyways, hope it heals soon

Knock on wood, I haven't gotten another sore. But what are the sympoms again. So I know...

Also keep it mosit so it doesn't scab over. Take ibuprofin and ice it - that will help the pain & swelling.

Abreva! That's what I used...Thanks for making me remember. It was good...
There's one I like more than Abreva - it's ZilactinL. It comes in a tiny little white bottle, and it's under $10. Not only does it help the sore, it numbs it (contains Lidocaine) so it doesn't hurt so much.

Thanks for the hugs!
Basically the first symptom is a slight tingle on the lip. Thats when I pop my Valtrex and Im cold sore free!
It comes out during stress, the sun or being sick. Those are the triggers and for the most part are dorment.
I dont get that lucky. I just know how to fight them off quicker now!

Yes and cold sores are a form of herpes...Herpes Simplex Virus. There are 3 kinds....and cold sores/blistes falls into 1.
Not really the same but yes, it is. Since it is a form of it, doctors prescrive Valtrex for cold sores for faster healing.
