I don't think I mind having this information available, however, I do wonder what this site was created for. Originally it was to help us estimate our reassessed taxes - if I am correct. We've all received our new tax rates. Why was so much effort put into making such a detailed site? I do have to admit it's fun to snoop and see what people's homes are worth, but I doubt if the county did it for that.

we used it to search for the square footage of the homes we were looking at....Unfortunately that option does not exist anymore

I think there is still a way to get that info- I just found it for my parents' house. I think it's under the "Sales Comparables" menu.
ETA- the site is down- I was going to find the specific spot where I got the info. When it's back up I will let you know. But I am 99% positive that the square footage of the houses is there. In fact, it even had the sqaure footage of the garage, which is new.

Because I just do. So what people's names don't appear??? .. all you need to know is a person's address .. and you can check out a whole variety of things. I just feel that info should not be so easily accessible to the public. The more information you give to people .. the more chance there is for twisted people to find a way to use it to their advantage (not in a good way).

I too, find it creepy. There is a lot of info that is personal. Like you can find out what your neighbors pay in taxes, etc. I can see how it's useful (I was curious about the size of my parents' house) but it should be password protected or something.

I don't mind that people can find out how much I pay in taxes, I believe that has always been information that is available to the public.
I'm not crazy about the fact that a basic floor plan of my home and front and arial shots of my home and surrounding neighborhood, with cross streets identified, are available to any yahoo that wants to play around on the website. You hear so many scary stories, this seems like a stupid idea to me.

The reason why I like this site is because I work in insurance doing homeowners and it gives information on a home that a person normally wouldnt know. It also has updates on value of building property which is key!
If anyone can figure it out, please let me know.
I put an address in and it tells me it cant find it. I dont know the postal parcel...I never needed it before??
Anyways, TIA!
