Inviting people to the wedding
I don't understand this "Wedding protocol" my mom talks about. Why do people me and FH barely even know need to be invited to the wedding.. My parents are paying for the reception, so I guess I really can't say much, but I just don't understand why all these people need to be invited... can anyone explain this to me?

Re: Inviting people to the wedding
wish i could, my parents are paying too s i cant say much either... they have said that they have been invited to their childrens wedding so they have to be there...they want them there to share in their happiness because it is a celebration...blah blah the comments go on and on, but i agree, there is no need for some of the people they are inviting to be there

Re: Inviting people to the wedding
We are in a similar situation. There will be people at our wedding that I haven't seen in years, and have only met once. There will be more of my parents friends than mine and FHs. But my parents are paying, so thats who's attending.

Re: Inviting people to the wedding
yea i agree, people whom you have not spoke with in a year should not be invitited, we jsut had this discussion with my fh mom, she wanted to invite like 25 of her friends, we want a small intimate wedding, that is not going to happen if we invite all these people who are not that close to us.

Re: Inviting people to the wedding
My FMIL wants to invite some of her co-workers, which is fine with me (we are paying for the wedding). She kept the number low (about 10), the rest of the invites are for family and family friends. If the number got too high, I would definitely speak up.

Re: Inviting people to the wedding
I guess I'm lucky since my parents aren't inviting everyone they know and we have a say and most of out friends are going. Hopefully that doesn't change as I get nearer.

Re: Inviting people to the wedding
I completely understand...there is people whom I never met before in my life coming to my wedding due to this whole "protocol" thing......whatever.... don't even feel like arguing knowing this is a battle I will lose and it's both my mother and FMIL.
