Re: NWR- anyone trying to get pregnant before the wedding- like weeks so you dont show?

I understand the desire to start...I don't want to wait too long either, but I agree with everyone else about what it will do to you physically, but think also of the child...wedding time, as well all know, is very stressful especially the days leading up to it, which is not good for a growing fetus.

but with 4 weeks to go, no one's telling you not to have a few "practice" runs!

Enjoy being a bride and a newlywed. those moments are fleeting...being a parent is for a lifetime.

Everyone's situation is different so please take everyone's exclamation marks on the subject with a grain of salt. IMO, if thats what you and your FH want to do then I'd say go for it! My friend is doing that for her upcoming wedding remembering that her first child took a couple of months to conceive. Although the girls had really good points that I would have to consider before doing it, you do what feels right for you.

Yes, for example if your clock is ticking and you are a teacher, like me. Ideally, if I was to conceive before the wedding (July) in May I'd have a month more maternity leave. I can understand the timing of conception. My friend is an accountant (understandablly her children are not born between January and April) and being a teacher A LOT of my colleagues try to time it. If their due date is in January they don't come back until September. If they can't afford that, they time for March because that will be 12 weeks before the end of the school year so you maximize your maternity leave without losing money and then get the summer off. However, if you are untenured (one of my colleagues) she HAD to time it for July so she could come right back in Sept.

To each his or her own.

I did watch one episode of a baby story though, where bride had severe endometriosis(sp) and they said she would have a rough time getting preggo...it turned out 8 weeks before she got married, she got preggo, and they announced it at the wedding to all their family. And all of her family members were so happy and celebrating.

Not at all. We decided to wait a few years until we try.

Couldn't afford to have kids and plan a wedding. But I hope to start right afterwards. But we'll see because my brother is getting married soon as well (probably June 2006) and I don't want to make his fiance deal with a preggo bridesmaid!!!

One of my friends did this...she and her husband were having fertility problems. They tried way before the wedding...but were unsucessful. She had many miscarriages but now she has two healthy twins

Re: NWR- anyone trying to get pregnant before the wedding- like weeks so you dont show?

Oh Hell No.

A couple of months does not make a difference no matter how fast your clock is ticking. Besides, I wouldnt feel right at the wedding knowing I was pregnant, and its not something I would want people to know. People are over dramatic as it is, I wouldnt want to be the talk of the town.

P.S. My mother was pregnant with me at their wedding.

Awww thank you, see Im 34 and getting married the 22 of this month. We really want a family right away and Im ovulating NOW so we thought hmmm maybe- i wouldnt be sick for the wedding or HM, you can still drink ( I asked the doctor) and theres a chance I may not conceive right away. A lot of my friends have been trying for years and months and nothing so we figured what would it matter if we started now and if I did get prego right away its a gift, especially at my age and would be first child. But we'll see we may wait till next month, after the wedding, we are tossing it in the air but I had to ask you guys what you thought. Thank you for all honest opinions I appreciate it. I am really curious if anyone else was possibly thinking of this as well.

We have been living together for 4 years and allready have a house so to us its like weve been married allready so thats another reason why we figured too why wait and practice makes perfect,
