NYC restaurant suggestions
Hi,
My friends are asking me where I want to go for dinner for my birthday in NYC..
I have no ideas of any good places - suggestions?
Just to narrow it down, I won't eat fish - and the other members of my party wont have Mexican, or Indian type food.
TIA!

I went to Ruby Foos last night (49/bdwy) and it was really good. Atmosphere is nice and the food was yummy.

If you like Carribean food..Negril's is great!! On 23rd street I believe.
Or, a bit further uptown on 93rd & 3rd, is Ecco-La....great pasta place!

Re: NYC restaurant suggestions
This is my favorite website to find restaurants in NYC.
http://newyork.citysearch.com
You should narrow it down to food type first and then location.
You have a million options. Good luck. If you pick one, post the name so you can get feed back.

Re: NYC restaurant suggestions
Go downtown - the lower east side has so many funky, inventive restaurants. IMO, Midtown and the theater district is so overpriced and overcrowded.
Check out: Suba www.subanyc.com gets a 9.0 rating on citysearch and is the BEST Tapas/latin fusion I have ever had! The dining room is suspended over water - it's amazing.
also in that area: 71 Clinton Fresh Food Tenement Dish most affordable: inoteca (italian wine bar, with mostly paninis - AMAZING!)
Or go to the east village - 2nd avenue between 3rd and 10th streets has a whole bunch of affordable, yummy, intimate, funky and non-touristy places. Frank (some people say it is the best Italian in the city - homestyle pasta in a retro downtown setting) SEA (really affordable South East Asian food) Cucina di Pesce
Sorry, I work in the business, and it is my passion.
Have fun!!!

Carmine's is wonderful and it is fun and great food but bok in advance!
I go to Restaurant Row- which has tons of places to eat all types and it's all along this one big street!
I can find out where exactly later on if you want

Rain (Thai) is really good and they have cool drinks. I believe there are two locations, but I've only been to the one on the East side. Blue Water Grill, Tao, Asia de Cuba and Fiamma Osteria are really good too.

Re: NYC restaurant suggestions
Rachel's on 9th Ave between 43rd and 44th (I think). It is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Le Madeline on 9th Ave around 42nd and 43rd. They have an indoor garden that is really nice and the food is quite nice.

These are all great suggestions, and I've gotta second the vote for Frank as one of the best Italian restaurants in the city. It is small and super-crowded on weekends, but worth it.

Carmine's
Tony DiNapoli
Becco (this is a little more old fashioned but the food is so good - the chef Lidia on PBS was a chef there).
