Help with baby foods for 7 month old.

Matthew will be 7 months old this month. Trying to plan ahead..... the doc told us at 7 months we can give him the white meats... turkey, chicken..... I've looked online and only see on the Gerber site things such as chicken and rice, turkey and rice, etc. Is there a company that makes just chicken, or just rice? I thought we were supposed to introduce new foods 1 at a time.... chicken and rice at the same time seems like not the right thing to do....

also, when do you start feeding the baby something else... desserts, etc? Just curious. Thanks.

If you given him rice cereal than I think a chicken/rice dinner would be fine. Gerber makes Chicken/Apples, Turkey/Sweet Pototoes, Chicken/Pears which may be an easy way to introduce meats. It is called Simple Recipes.
You can also just boil a piece of chicken, let cool and grind it up finely. You can just add that to your own applesauce or other foods. I did this and it worked nicely.

Re: Help with baby foods for 7 month old.

I just bought Rebecca stage one meats by Beechnut. They have veal and broth, turkey and broth, chicken and broth and beef and broth. Rebecca can't have rice so these were great. So far she's tried turkey.
She'd almost 7 months.

When I introduced meats, I always mixed it in with a veggie he liked because he hated the taste of the meat alone! BeechNut and Gerber both make small jars of just meat. The Beechnut meats have a little texture to it, and the Gerber meats are smoother, because of the added cornstarch. We prefer Gerber meats in our house.

Re: Help with baby foods for 7 month old.

I was just researching the same info. Gerber has plain meats as well (though I didn't see a lot on the shelves at the grocery store this weekend, just the meats mixed with other things). Here is the info. on 2nd foods from the Gerber website... 2nd foods

Did anyone have troubles introducing the 2nd foods after baby got used to the 1st foods? Did baby eat the full serving of the 2nd foods or did it take a while for them to work up to eating the bigger portion of food? My son has been doing really well on 1st foods and I just started introducing 2nd foods this weekend (not the meats yet, he's 6 months). He wasn't as enthusiastic as I thought he'd be and didn't eat as much.

Re: Help with baby foods for 7 month old.

my son is 6.5 months and he isn't crazy about the meats. It seems like so much food for him so I give him 1.2 a jar mixed with a stage 1 veggie and he's ok with that. I figured I'd give him time to get used to it....

I didn't know gerber's are smoother. We may give that I try. I have been mixing with sweet potatos or squash. She didn't love it alone either.
