Thank you for helping me with this post below. I found out the most info I could. He is Jewish and was cremated 24 hours after his death 2 weeks ago. For closer and to honor him we will be having a memorial for him at the school. It is sad that someone at the age of 21 could die from liver cancer and it makes me charish my life and health even more.

I think his family lived on LI, and I would like to go to the funeral/wake. His name is Mark Lax.
I have known him since sprig 2002. He pledge the same National Co-educational Service Fraternity (APO) that I am in. He found he had cancer no long after. He beat it, after being in the hospital for a while. He came back to RPI for a semester, but then changed schools so we did not see him much anymore. Last night I got an e-mail saying he had passed away, but not much other info was provided.
He was a very funny nice guy and I am sad that we did not get to know him better. I am glad though that I have good memories of him.
Do any of you know this family, or know of a way I can find out about the details. I would like to be there with his family, and I know a whole chapter of APO that would feel the same.

A lot of people don't put obituaries in Newsday. My family never does. Could you contact the organization you were both in? Any mutual friends from college?

Have you tried calling APO's National Office? They have had an address for him (or might have his parents address if he used that when he registered with them).
Sorry to hear of the passing of a fellow APO "brother."
