Anyone English Bulldog (sorry not on PETS Board)?
I wanted to buy one for DH for B-day - I read somewhere they MUST be in A/C during the hot weather and that they have a short life span is this all true? Do you think they are ok with another cat and dog? T.I.A.

Re: Anyone English Bulldog (sorry not on PETS Board)?
They are very sensitive to heat due to their inability to pant like other dogs due. They overheat very easily. Beware of where you buy your dog so you don't buy a puppymill dog... Research.

Re: Anyone English Bulldog (sorry not on PETS Board)?
When you get any type of puppy, they're usually fine with other pets, because they're young and they don't know the difference. I'd be more worried about how the cat and dog you already own react to it. Usually there's a LOT of jealousy, when you introduce a new pet into the home like that.

Re: Anyone English Bulldog (sorry not on PETS Board)?
We have an english bulldog. They are a lot of maintenace. They do not like heat that much and they don't like the cold too much either. And many of them have hip problems. If you have stairs you have to be careful because they told me that they might never be able to walk up and down a full flight of stairs.
And they are very expensive, over $2,000K. If you want more detailed info FM me.

Thank you all so much, we love that dog sooo much, I just don't think it is right for us, we have many many stairs in our house and no a/c. I am disappointed but rather the dog have a easy life.

Re: Anyone English Bulldog (sorry not on PETS Board)?
we adopted an english bulldog from a shelter about 3 weeks ago i was also told that they have some heatlth problems, and cannot stand extreme heat. but the way i see it, where else would the dog be in the summer but inside anyway? and while I have a ranch style home, my bubba has no problem leaping up and down the deck stairs. I could not imagine him not being able to make a flight of stairs. we brought him into a home with another, very spoiled, doggie, and he is the most gentle and passive dog ever! she growls at him, barks at him, and he just stands there and takes it! and when they play, its hysterical. If you have any questions, FM me- I havent had him for long but he is WONDERFUL.

Re: Anyone English Bulldog (sorry not on PETS Board)?
HE IS SOOO CUTE - thanks for posting, I guess I have to find a different B-day gift, our stairs are steep to the bedrooms. I know there are hundreds and hundreds of dogs, this breed is the one he wanted.

Re: Anyone English Bulldog (sorry not on PETS Board)?
We had a female English Bulldog, which we recently gave away to a family friend. First off, they are VERY expensive. We paid 2,400 for her. They shed more than they say, and ours just happened to be alittle wild and crazy. She was a good dog, absolutely adorable, it just was not the right time for us with the baby and all and we didnt really have the time to focus on her. We gave her to friends who already have an English Bulldog. We've gone to visit her and now she has a great little dog buddy and she's so happy!!!
Here's the one we had...
