What do u call ur future in-laws

My parents want my FI to call them mom and dad now....
BUT i feel weird calling MY future in-laws mom and dad.....bc i dont think they are really to hear that....


What are u ladies callin them NOW?

I call them Mr. & Mrs. M (short for their full name). They like it actually.

I may call them Daddy M & Mom M later.

For a while I was calling them Nothing..

Then I started calling his grandparents...grandpa and grandma in Greek and FMIL "Mom".

Still don't feel 100% comfortable calling her that but I guess it's okay b/c I call my friends parents "Mom/Dad" also.

I call my own mother.."Maaa"

I've always called them by their first names, since I have known them since I was little...except when she was my religion teacher, and I had to call her Mrs. O :)

I call them by their first names. I don't think I'll ever call them "mom and dad" it's just feels funny.

I don't call them anything! I had to get his mother's attention the other day and called her by her first name. I don't really want to call them Mom & Dad, although FI's mother told me that her MIL demanded that she be called mom.

Years ago, my FMIL told me to call her whatever I wanted to, but I said that until I had a ring on my finger, she's be Mrs. F. Two years pass, we get engaged, and now I'm just not calling her anything because I feel awkward.

So I had a hysterical (drunken) conversation while at my FIL's over Christmas. I told my FMIL that I was sick of not calling her anything - so she had to make a decision - and that I didn't feel comfortable calling her by her first name. So we settled on Mom (I had asked my Mom for permission), we hugged and that was the end of it. Only problem is his dad. I never had that conversation, so I still call him Mr. F....don't know how to change that one.

I dont really call them by anything now. I havent had to address them by name - weird. Whats even more weird is that I feel I could call FFIL "DAD" but I don't think I could ever call FMIL "MOM". I just get the sense that she doesnt like that I am marrying her only son and "workhorse". She doesn't want to share him.

Uh, I call them by either a nickname.....like my FH's mom I call JB..her initials. That is because she asked me to call her mom..even in the beginning and I didnt feel comfortable doing that so as a joke I started the initial thing and it stuck.
As for FH dad..its Mr. B....and sometimes dad will fly out only cause FMIL calls him that when referring to him.

Either way, I dont feel comfortable using the "mom" and "dad" because I already have one I dont expect my FH to do so either.

wow ladies....i dont feel soo bad now....
My family has accepted my FI sooo much, they LOVE him.....and my mom and dad wants him to call them "mom and dad"
But on his side....well i call them "NOTHING" just like a lot of you....

When i try to get there attention...i just walk up to them....ugg!!!!

i do not feel comfy either calling them mom or dad. it is weird for me..
although his mom had made a comment a while ago -saying that it is disrespectful not to call them mom or dad.. i just can't do

I would like for FH to call my parents Mom and Dad, and he does sign cards that way and does it more in a kidding manner already...they like it, but I dont care if he does or not

he usually says their 1st name though

I call his mom by her 1st name and his dad Mr. _______ BECAUSE they have the same first name, so i feel so weird ....but i guess i will have to soon

I have a good relationship with my future in-laws, however I don't think I'd feel comfortable calling them by anything other than their first names. I don't think they'd be the type to ask me to call them mom and dad, and plus they're divorced and both remarried, and I'm calling FI's stepparents by their first names anyway, so it just seems logical.

My dad calls my mom's parents mom and dad, which works because he didn't have such a great relationship with his own parents. I feel like my mom and dad are my mom and dad and that's it!

I call them Mr & Mrs although they repeatedly tell me to call them by their first names....but it just sounds too weird for me. Maybe after we're married I will be able to.

Well my FI only has a mother, father passed away when he was 11. so i just call her by her name.

I don't call them anything. His mom doesn't speak hardly any english mostly italian and his dad I don't think he really cares. I figured since his mom speaks mostly italian I get away with calling her nothing.
It may change once we get married. They are great so I wouldn't mind calling them mom or dad.

I call them mr and mrs p, but the other day FMIL called me and I didnt recognize her voice and I aksed who it was and she said its your mom-to-be

Umm..this is complicated...because I actually call some of my frineds parents mom and dad sometimes...(people I've known for years...but more as citesy thing)..

But...ok..sicne we've been engaged, his mom signs cards "love mom and dad" and his dad called and said "hi it's your future father in law"..

I called his mom "mom" for awhile, but I stopped when I realized how UNLIKE my mom she is, when I felt really betrayed by her. So, I don't know I usually don't call her anything, but I have always called them by thier first names.

FH has always called my parents "mr and mrs____" which is odd b/c my family is more accepting of him than his, but more traditional.

now he sometimes calls my mom "ma", which is what my BIL calls her.

When forced to use anything I have to go with the first name. But I usually try the "hey you" thing first!

They told me to call them by their first names. FMIL actually called to tell me that I don't HAVE to call her mom (like her MIL makes her). Most of the time I don't call them by their names, and when I refer to them, I usually just say "your parents."
