Re: July 4th weddings
When Amazing Savings was going out of business I bought some of the red, white and blue bunting for the outside of our house so it will be decorated for pictures.
Instead of place cards you can buy miniature American flags and attach everyone's placecard to the pole of the American flag. You can then fill a galvanized pail (s) with sand and place all of the flags in there.
Make your favor around a July 4th theme... sparklers with a mini matchbook set attached tied up with red, white and blue ribbon.
Instead of favors make a chritable donation to the VFW, Veterans Hospital or send care packages to the troops via the website for Operation Shoebox.
I'm also buying an American flag to have in my pictures.

Re: July 4th weddings
I wasn't planning on doing anything specifically related to the 4th of July, although I am hoping that there'll be a fireworks display that we can see from our reception site!

Re: July 4th weddings
I'm 4th of July weekend, and though I am not doing anything relating to the 4th, my aunt went to a wedding on the 4th a couple of years ago and the bride had some bm's in navy, some in red and she in white to reflect the flag. Also, last year I saw in a dollar store tons of 4th of July things - including a Statue of Liberty silver plated bottle opener, which would be cute for a favor to keep within your theme. I would google 4th of July theme weddings to get more ideas.
