ugh! guest list vent

hey girls... just have to vent about my guest list. we're sending the invites out sometime in the next few weeks, so i started to address and put them together... and in counting numbers... out of 156 invited... only 65 are from my side... which means my fiance and his parents are inviting almost 30 people more than me and my parents... and he thinks hes still gonna be able to invite his "b-list" people, when my parents have some b-list people, too?!. ... riiiightttt!!!! grr! when will this be over?!

ive seen so many of these posts...so please forgive me if i sound harsh...its not to you in particular

but WHY is it such a numbers thing with guest lists?

My parents are inviting 2 couple...the rest of my 170 is my inlaws but i know most of them so i dont consider anyone having sides....they are my and my FH's guests

why do you feel it has to be even stevens as far as who gets invites?

i don't know... i guess its becasue with the money each of our parents are giving us, it works out to them basically splitting the cost of the hall. so i just think that since they are each putting in the same amount of moneyl, then each side should be able to invite the same amount of people. i guess it wouldn't bother me so much if my parents didn't have people they want to invite that we have had to put on the "B list" because of his list....

oh ok....that makes sense

we are paying for our friends so we can invite as many as we can afford

plus i dont have a b-list...im just inviting everyone so thats not a concern for me

lol.. its ok... i'm grump too... ready for this wedding to be over- LOL
its just been this whole big thing with the guest list. his family are all pennsylvania rednecks who don't have a ton of money to travel to NJ for the wedding... so when we first started planning his dad ( optimist that he is) kept saying " oh... nobody from our side is gonna come... blah blah blah" so i went ahead and booked a room that is on the small side and can only hold about 145 comfortably. well then my FHs uncle ( who has NOTHING to do with the wedding) decided to "declare" that our wedding was gonna be their family reunion this year so now the people that weren't gonna come before are most likely gonna come and we're stuck with tre small room. AND on my side the people who i thought were guaranteed "nos" ( like my moms aunts) are looking like they are gonna come now, too.... so the guest list is a sore subject for me right now- LOL and i'm the type of person thats hates not knowing things... so its driving me nuts that i don't know for sure whos coming and whos not yet- thinkin of sending the invites out early just so we get responses back and i can get over this- LOL.
is it june yet?!

FH and FIL's lists are bigger than mine. My parents are paying. Is it his fault that his circle of friends is larger or that his family is larger? No. MY issue is that his mother wants third cousins once removed invited with dates when they are 18.

I exaggerated slightly but I am having issues with him and his mother inviting people with dates who are not involved in relationships. There has to be a cut-off somewhere. I think that I would rather have another piece in my band or perhaps a more extensive photography package than to have an excessive guest list.
