I am so sad. My brothers puppy just got hit by a car

I am so upset for everyone. They got the puppy 2 weeks ago. My brother finally got his own puppy. My son loved to go and visit the new puppy Lily. She was 5 months old. My fiance was over my parents house picking up a dresser and somehow either the fence or door was opened enough where she ran out down the the cross street and was hit. She died immediately. My poor brother is so upset. My fiance picked the puppy up and brought her home. He just came home and told me and then went back to be with my brother. I just feel so sad. Hes been suffering from depression before this and this is just horrible. My fiance thinks it might be his fault

He was there with the door open for the dresser. I know its not, but he just feels so bad.

Hes 4 and doesnt know yet. My fiances brother was with him and stayed in the house with him.

right - I dont want any puppy to die, but I was so glad that it was immediate. That was the only thing I wanted to know. If he would have said no I would have cried even harder.

thanks girls. My parents are coming home early from vacation etc. I just feel so bad for my brother. Im sure hes heartbroken.

She was a cutie. She loved to play ball with my son Michael. I dont know how to explain to him where she is.

I am so very sorry to hear of this great loss for your family. My parent's dog suddenly became very ill and had to be put to sleep and I was very honest with my 5 year old. I told her the truth, I told her that the dog got sick and would have to become an angel up in heaven. I'd tell your son exactly what happened, that the dog ran out and was hit by a car, so she went up to heaven to be an angel. I hate to say it, but I remember a neighborhood dog getting hit by a car and it made all us kids in the neighborhood so much more aware of not running into the street, and to hold our parents hand when crossing, and to look both ways. I remember all our parents felt so bad that we had to deal with the loss, but it was a "safety" lesson to be learned, especially at your son's young age when kids are less aware of traffic and cars around them. We had a tough few days with our daughter, expect lots of fear and uncertainty. Good luck, I'll be thinking of you, I'd like to think that all out precious animals that have been taken from us are all together running and eating and playing in warm sunshine!!

thanks ladies. I guess I will tell him the truth. youre right. It may keep him out of the street in the future or be more cautious.

Thank you. I just found out who hit her. Its a boy down the street who always speeds around. Im not saying it was his fault at all, but Eric said the skid marks were LONG like he was definately speeding. I wish people would at least obey the speed limit in a residential neighborhood.
