OY!!! MILS!!!!! Kinda long vent.

So yesterday was Mothering Sunday in the UK. DH's brother and his wife were supposed to have everyone over for dinner, but her father's just had major surgery this week, so she wasn't really able to handle it. So we said we would have his mom over and his brother would come along for dinner. This fact doesn't really have anything to do with anything, just pointing out that it wasn't even supposed to be our event.

So she sees me and first thing she says is Oh, WHAT is this! as she grabs the back of my hair (some of you may remember that I cut my hair pretty drastically a few weeks ago). BIL says, But don't you think it looks nice, mom? And she says 'Well, I liked Farah's LONG hair'

Then she goes on to needle DH the whole time about how much weight he's gained. She actually told him that he was 'hefty' and that he was probably considered 'obese'...which is he so is not. the only good thing that came out of the afternoon is that BIL actually stuck up for both me and DH, which doesn't happen very often.

I told DH last night that his mother is simply not old enough to say things like that without anyone calling her on it.

Well, good to know that MILs aren't affected by culture differences - they're sucky everywhere.

I told DH last night that his mother is simply not old enough to say things like that without anyone calling her on it.
