Saw Flower Barn on Saturday...
And Michael was simply wonderful.
I came from Bayview Montage Florist with a high price and my mind swirling and he seriously and patiently helped me calm down and see the vision.
His partner made a sample CP in about 3 minutes. About seven tall callas in beautiful vases with willlow and bear grass. It was breath-taking.
He even made me like roses again! Hahah.... (and as I left he gave me the most gorgeous red rose!)
He did well with the price but I need to re-think the girls. He had talked about doing rose bo-k's for them and I am still thinking of something else instead. He did well in price for them, but I had really wanted to keep them simple and cost efficient! But what he described was soooo beautiful.
So...I suggest going girls. It's in Seaford right by the SOB Expressway.

Re: Saw Flower Barn on Saturday...
Ok...so now that I said that....
I'm still having floral issues. I'm done with CP's...I think. I really want the tall calla CP's for all the tables.
But in terms of the girls, I'm so confused. And for myself, now I feel drawn towards a full rose bo-k in lavendar or a goldish color....
Ugh...I can't wait to be done with flowers!!!!!!!

Re: Saw Flower Barn on Saturday...
I am glad that you had a good experience!!! It is confusing!!! So now you are sticking with the Calla's (ie french flowers )
Why not your BOk roses & callas like I am doing....My BM's are all roses...I like the gold color...Do you know what color the girls are going to wear dress wise??? The only reason I ask, the gold might be washed out in pictures...You need a bold color

Re: Saw Flower Barn on Saturday...
Yay!! I'm so glad you liked Michael.. doesn't he just put your mind at ease??? He was such a breath of fresh air, after the florists I had seen. I too got a beautiful rose, a yellow one.. that lasted for over two weeks! That thing wouldn't die! lol....
I agree with Kissy27.. you should build your flowers around your girls dresses... incorporate the "feel" of the dress in the flowers... But what do i know... I've decided the flowers and I'm trying to fit dresses into them! I am so darn backward!
But I'm glad you had a good experience with Flower Barn!!! Wait till you meet with Robert (@Pedestals..)... unbelievable!!!

Re: Saw Flower Barn on Saturday...
Speaking of unclothed.... I got the #@&!* swatch from B R... totally the wrong fabric! I called up and they were like" No, thats the one you ordered..." and I had my first Bridezilla moment, and told her I'm looking at the dress on his site and it's not that swatch! So she's ordering a new one:) I was really proud of myself.. cause initially I was just gonna say forget it, and I'll just wait until we order the dresses... but I decided to throw a fit instead. Sometimes they are fun!

Re: Saw Flower Barn on Saturday...
kissy - i just posted where i am leaning towards for the girls and me for flowers.
right now, i think i'm going to do sterling roses (light lilac) with dendo orchids in between. the girls will be sahara roses (michael made me love them) with the dendos too.
the girls will be wearing a deep purple...i'm sure of that at least! and i put up a swatch next to the sahara and swooned - so pretty.
FH wants me to do a low CP of 2 dozen roses. he likes the tall callas but just thinks its all too expensive. i really REALLY REALLY need to get the price down so that FH will say yes....cause right now he is going to make me do candles!

Re: Saw Flower Barn on Saturday...
So why not blow your budget onthe CP's and keep the bok's simple... You know you really LOVE those callas.. I know you do!!!! How much different could the bill be if you chose a different flower?? You could always save some $ and get the containers for them.. they usually overcharge for glass containers anyway!

Flower Barn said I could do that - but would also just loan me theirs - which was sooo nice.
I'm actually thinking of doing that - either the all high or 1/2 and 1/2 and then very simple bo-k's in sahara roses... very classy and simple.

Re: Saw Flower Barn on Saturday...
I think that is a great idea.. I never thought to do half and half! I think that would be really different! And I'm even coming around on the roses myself.. I originally didn't love them, but when I found my bok picture.. I loved it! So now I'm ok with them:) and the sahara ones are really pretty...

thanks - i'll let you know what happens later. i'm going to have to also price out what 2 dozen roses on each table would also cost and weigh the differences. does anyone know this off-hand?

Re: Saw Flower Barn on Saturday...
Just to pick up on one of your points - one of you mentioned to splurge on the CP's and save on the bo-k's. I was in a similar situation where I really wanted callas for myself and the tables, so we decided to skimp on my girls' bo-k's, since they just end up on a table somewhere anyway. My bo-k will be a splurge (all callas), and my tables will have calls as well (I wanted low CP's so I have other flowers mixed in, like purple and sage hydragneas), but my girls aren't carrying anything spectacular (actually, I don't even remember what we chose for them ). My mom agreed with John that once the reception starts, the BP flowers are done - so why bother? They really made it an easy decision for me.
Just my two cents. Didn't mean to stick my nose into your conversation !
Good luck!

Thanks - no butting in at all!
I agree and with 8 bridesmaids, I'll have bo-k's left over for the cake table and my own table.
I love the tall callas...I think they add so much elegance. But I am trying to be practical too...so we need to see about that!
I have actually switched to wanting roses for myself...and for the girls and then splurging on the arrangements...as long as everything flows, I am really happy!
