NWR:Help! Bars in Manhattan
I am looking for an area that just has a bunch of good bars, no cover to go to. One of my bridesmaids is 20 so I need to go places that don't id to get in.

Nope, me either. Even the ones that might not "normally" check ids can do it at any time. Honestly, I'd do dinner before so the 20 year old can be there and then go out for drinks with all of the 'of age' girls after. JMO.

SOME of the bars won't ID her, especially if she looks old.
I was 2 weeks shy of 21. I had a chalked ID, and I got into a few on the same night. Found a GREAT bar (small place) that was playing latin music --- they have a downstairs room...can't remember the name! There was tons of dancing, I was w/ my girls and we had the best time. It was "ladies night", so no cover.
I always thought Ladies night was thursday, but we were there on a Fri

this may be cheesy to some, but my friends would love to go to ESPN zone - there are a few through manhattan - most popular would be 42nd & 8th I guess.
It's multi-leveled - a restaurant/ couple bars /arcade on the top floor... I had a great time there, and you can drink, and the 20 yr old can still be there to play.

I would say stay out of the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, and West village only because they always card in those areas. Probably due to the high concentration of college kids. I would say east village is great. Yes I understand that NYU is right there but if you stay on 1st avenue or below they don't card. Alphabet city is probably the best. I lived in the east village for 5 years and now live on the upper east. Also of course stay away from the popular bars. That is the best opinions I can give you.

Def. try Bleecker Street. A lot of those bars have live music so they are 18 and up. Around Bleecker & Thompson there is The Bitter End, Asylum, Kenny's Castaways, etc.

Im 27 and I still getting ID'd every time I go to any bar. And I don't think i look particularily young.
When I was underage it was so much easier..I think they are more strict now.
